Mumbai Torah Dedicated in Waterbury, CT
On Nov. 1 the Chabad Lubavitch of Northwest Connecticut transformed the one-year anniversary of the Mumbai tragedy into a celebration of the couple's legacy and life's work with the dedication of a Torah and a gala dinner honoring Rabbi Holtzberg's parents, who joined the celebration, as well three local community service veterans. The event was held at the Waterbury Holiday Inn.
"It's a blessing for the community," said Rabbi Joseph Eisenbach, who with his wife, Mina,
Chumash Celebrations in Romania Second-graders at the Ohr Avner-Chabad School in Romania celebrated beginning to study the Chumash this week.
The party was held at the Amzei Shul, where the children sang songs, played music, and put on a show. Each child then received a Chumash, after which they read out certain verses with great emotion. Many parents shed a tear of joy at the thought that their children would now study Torah from their own Chumash.
The party was the final stage of a week of special activities about the Torah. These included meeting a sofer, trying to write using a feather and ink, arts and crafts, competitions, and quizzes.
Veterans Day 2009 By Rabbi Eli Hecht - EXCLUSIVE to Shmais.com
During the month of November we celebrate Veterans Day. Our newspapers and media are full of advertisements for the best deals of the day. From electronics to clothing, to health care and insurance, car sales, there are Veterans Day specials. Ironically most people who take advantage of Veterans Days sales may not veterans. The veterans are busy dealing with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), an anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to one or more traumatic events that threatened or caused great physical harm. It may be a result of shell shock, battle fatigue etc. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) which occurs when outside forces like car bombings and the like traumatically injures the brain.
Then there are physical handicaps like broken bones, backs and families. Amputees are busy learning how to live their lives in a normal fashion and physiological training is a must while suicides are at its highest rate. With the recent tragedies of the killing of innocent soldiers by traumatized soldiers is an example of the mayhem caused by war and experienced by the veterans.
It was November 11th, 1919 when U.S. President Woodrow Wilson first proclaimed an Armistice Day. In 1953 the Board of Educations supported closing their doors on November 11 to honor veterans. President Dwight Eisenhower signed it into law on May 26th, 1954.
“Loaves of Love” at the University of Connecticut
A “Challah” is often braided of many strands. It is no surprise, then, that it was the baking of hundreds of Challahs that brought dozens of students together. On a recent night at the Storrs campus of the University of Connecticut, students of all stripes joined forces for an evening of fun, food, and community service.
Spearheaded by Mrs. Shaindel Hecht, Program Director of Chabad @ UConn, the event was a true collaboration

For an entire weekend, their course schedules and term papers will be relegated to the bottommost regions of their backpacks. It is the annual International Student Shabbaton, and 800 of the world’s Jewish collegians will be there.

This Friday night, November 6, 2009, representatives from 100 schools around the world will break challah together in the neighborhood of Crown Heights in Brooklyn, New York.

Chai on learning in West Houston By MICHAEL C. DUKE
In what started out as a mere lunch-n-learn program nearly a decade ago, today, has become West Houston’s newest full-fledged Jewish education institution, complete with children’s Hebrew school, adult-learning classes and, of course, Shabbat and holiday events.
The Chai Learning Center of West Houston, located at 14133 Memorial Dr., one block west of Kirkwood Dr., is the product of a growing and spiritually hungry Jewish community on the city’s west side, explained the center’s founder and director, Rabbi Dovid Goldstein.
“We’re calling the institution the Chai Learning Center – chai meaning ‘life’ – because we want to ignite people’s lives through learning,” Rabbi Goldstein said.CONTINUE...

Chabad campaign: Messages from Rebbe at basketball court Kobi Nahshoni
The Chabad movement and the Hapoel Jerusalem basketball club have launched an advertising campaign to disseminate Jewish and Hassidic messages at the team's home court in Malha. Famous sayings attributed to the Lubavitcher Rebbe will appear on the large billboards that line the court.
Since last week's game against French club Roanne during Eurocup qualifiers, messages such as "Your one good deed does good for everyone" and "You want to change the world? The power is in your hands" will be shown during home games at Malha.
The messages are projected on a 32-meter (yard) long digital billboard before the eyes of tends of thousands of spectators at the court and watching at home.
In addition, the messages will also be printed in the team's pamphlets distributed in the thousands as well as on a banner on the team's internet site. The objective: "to encourage love of Israel and to increase Jewish identity."
Ukrainian Ambassador Tours Jewish Children’s Museum By Shalom Klein
Ambassador Yuriy A. Sergeyev, Ukraine’s permanent representative to the United Nations in New York, visited the Jewish Children’s Museum in Brooklyn Thursday to view first-hand its efforts at educating children of all backgrounds.
Led by Rabbi Mendel Spalter, director of development at the museum, the tour was an outgrowth of an ongoing relationship between the institution and Ukraine’s Mission to the UN. Joined by Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, the educational arm of Chabad-Lubavitch, Sergeyev first viewed the museum’s temporary exhibition on the Holocaust.
During a walk through of the facility’s hands-on exhibits describing the Jewish holidays and Shabbat, the diplomat – whose country is home to one of the largest re-emerging Jewish communities in the world – noted the importance of children being able to experience Jewish customs in an entertaining setting.
Following the tour, Spalter and Kotlarsky briefed the ambassador about Chabad-Lubavitch activities around the globe, specifically those of the children’s organization Tzivos Hashem, a sister institution of the museum. CONTINUE...

Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin takes the stand and insists he never intentionally violated federal fraud or immigration laws By GRANT SCHULTE
Sioux Falls, S.D. – Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin insisted today that he never intentionally violated federal fraud or immigration laws as the head of an eastern Iowa kosher meat plant, but acknowledged that he “made mistakes.”
The former top executive at Agriprocessors Inc. attributed his plant’s questionable financial practices to his own oversights or actions by other employees. He said he was “trying hard to comply with the law” at the plant, but he grew visibly annoyed when grilled by a federal prosecutor.
“I made mistakes,” he said. “I’m a human being. I took the information people gave me and sort of went with it without really drilling down to see if it was for real or not.”
...Rubashkin told jurors he never read the agreement for a $35 million credit line to the plant, which he signed.continue...

Special Shiur Marks Hall’s “Conversion” to Kashrus and Shabbos Last night, dozens of residents of Yehud, near Tel Aviv, attended a special session of Rabbi Shmuel Wolf’s weekly shiur. The shiur opened with Tehillim on Chanukas Habayis, recited by Chabad House director Rabbi Shimon Weiner. Afterwards, Rabbi Wolf gave a special shiur on the theme, “From the Akeida to Al-Qaeda,” on the inner significance of Akeidas Yitzchok in the eyes of Chassidus.

The Rabbi-To-Be Gets A Title Shot by Steve Lipman
The verbal sparring starts as soon as Yuri Foreman begins his training session.
Foreman, a native of Belarus who moved with his family to Israel at age 10 to escape anti-Semitism, and then to New York City at 19 alone to prepare for a boxing career, is a fighter with a rare pedigree — a top-ranked light middleweight contender and a rabbinical student. As perhaps befits a guy who pores carefully over religious texts, he is a ring tactician so cautiously methodical that critics call him Yuri “Boreman.”
He’s careful about his training regimen, too, and on a recent morning at Gleason’s Gym he picks up a jump rope to get himself warmed up. Wearing black shorts and black T-shirt, he hops vigorously in place, whirring the rope past his head and toes, hardly breaking a sweat. “You’re not a real rabbi,” taunts a bystander. “He’s a real rabbi,” the heckler continues, jabbing a finger in the direction of a nearby boxer who is shadow boxing.
Foreman nods, but doesn’t miss a beat. The other boxer, 22-year-old Shmuli Gross, actually is a rabbi, a Brooklyn student at Touro College with rabbinical ordination. But as an amateur, he’s not in Foreman’s league — in the ring, that is.
Jewish day school showcased in Reno BY DAVID JACOBS
The start of the Jewish new year this fall ushered in a new educational era for the Northern Nevada community.
Aleph Academy, a day school, opened its doors in the new Chabad Regional Center off West Moana Lane.
"It is based a lot on respect of the child, it's a community-based philosophy," educational director Sarah Cunin said of the school's mind-set. "Parents are very involved in the way that the school goes, the families are very involved. We just don't work with the child in isolation. There is a give and take between teacher, child, family, which is very special."
The school serves about 20 students ranging in age from preschoolers to some of elementary school age. About half are ages 2 to 5 with the other half in the first through fourth grade.

Ukraine Closes Schools Nationwide For Fear of Swine Flu Lubavitch.com
(lubavitch.com) In a drastic measure adopted to combat the swine flu virus, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko ordered a three-week closure of Ukraine's schools.
"From today, all the school establishments in Ukraine -- be they private or public -- will be put on three weeks of holiday," she told her cabinet in comments carried on Ukrainian television last Friday.
Rabbi Shmuel Kaminzki, Chief Rabbi of Dnepropetrovsk, told lubavitch.com that in compliance with these orders, beginning this week, “all of the Ohr Avner Chabad schools in Ukraine have been closed.”
With 35 Ohr Avner schools and some 50 kindergartens in the networks, there are about 1000 children in the Chabad school network.
The measure, which also includes a ban on public gatherings, comes after 30 people have died of unexplained causes in The Ternopil region in Western Ukraine.
Ontario Jewish Communities Honor Infant’s Memory By Tamar Runyan
Following an infant’s untimely passing, his family is honoring the memory of their departed son and nephew by strengthening Jewish education in their communities, unveiling programs in two cities in Ontario, Canada, during the week of what would have been his first birthday.
Meir Shlomo Zaltzman, the son of Rabbi Mendel and Chanie Zaltzman, passed away at the age of seven months on May 25, just a few days before the holiday of Shavuot. For the parents of young Meir Shlomo, the loss understandably came as a shock. But in the following months, they responded to the tragedy by approaching their activities at the Jewish Russian Community Center of Yonge and Clark with a renewed vigor.
“I’d like to redirect the energy I would have given to Shloime’le to the young children of our community who are the continuation of the Jewish people,” said Chanie Zaltzman, who co-directs the Toronto-based JRCC and also teaches at its Hebrew School.

Scrolling through Jewish history By Kendall Hatch/Daily News staff
NATICK, MA - Members of MetroWest's Jewish community gathered yesterday to celebrate a tradition thousands of years old - the writing of a Sefer Torah scroll.
"We have been doing this for 3,000 years," said Yitzchok Cohen of Natick. "These traditions have been going on for centuries."
About 100 congregants, rabbis from other synagogues and members of the community met at the Chabad Center for the dedication ceremony of the new scroll. Families who had sponsored the writing of a book, section, verse, word or letter of the Torah were called on to assist Rabbi Moshe Klein of New York, the commissioned scribe.
"It's a very proud moment because it's a continuation of the Jewish faith," said Rachel Bornstein, a former congregant at the Chabad Center. "It represents unity. Each letter, each person, each contribution goes to the completion of the Torah."

Chabad School Goes on Strike The PTA at the Chabad school in the southern Israel city of Netivot declared a students’ strike today. The reason for this is that the Education Ministry has decided to reinstate the principal who ran the school for six years even though many parents believe that her mismanagement caused difficulties to the students and badly affected the learning program.
The Education Ministry originally allowed the principal to be transferred elsewhere at the beginning of the year. However, it then reinstated her despite strong objections from the teachers and the parents, who found it impossible to work with her.
The Ministry had even appointed a replacement, who was doing well in her new position, but who may well lose her job.
The Education Ministry does not deny that there are problems, but due to various technical reasons and legal considerations it decided nonetheless to reinstate the former principal.
Lessons will be on strike until a solution is found, enabling the transfer of the principal and the reinstatement of her replacement. (SOURCE; COL.ORG.IL)

Reshet Bet Reports on Flourishing Chabad Houses in China On the “Netiv Olami” show, broadcast by the Israeli radio station Reshet Bet, a couple of backpackers spoke about their intention to tour China. They asked if the Chabad Houses there sold kosher food that could be purchased on site.
“Chabad Houses are flourishing in China,” said the show’s presenters.
“I was there on Friday night, exactly a week and a half ago,” said Dr. Chen Baram. “It’s wonderful to see what goes on there. There’s a very energetic Rabbi, who is also very open. There are even a Chabad minyan and a Sephardi minyan over there,” he added.
Halacha of the Day: Lefties and Righties in Halacha (11) Compiled by Rabbi Eliezer Wenger for SHMAIS.com
The Debreciner (Shut Be’eir Moshe Vol. 2,3:19) cites the Minchas Pittim regarding which hand a right-handed person should use when holding items which do not involve the actual performance of a mitzvah, but it is a means to do the mitzvah (hechsher mitzvah), a preparation for the mitzvah, or the like, such as holding the chometz which needs to be burned, the shechita or milah knife or the sand, etc for covering the blood of a chicken (kisu hadam). According to the Minchas Pittim, one would be able to do it with his left hand as well. Nevertheless the Debreciner is of the opinion that the left-handed person should use his left hand. (Although it would appear that he could also use his right hand according to the Minchas Pittim).
When it comes to remove the Tefillin from the head, one should remove it with his left hand to show that they are reluctant to remove their Tefillin. Thus a left-handed individual would use his right hand (which is his weaker hand) to show his reluctance in removing his Tefillin. (Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch O.C. 28:5)

Details of negotiations and phone conversations between terrorists at Nariman House in Mumbai and the Israeli Embassy ![]()

LIVING WITH MOSHIACH #1618 About the coming of Moshiach, Rabbi Shneur Zalman (the first Rebbe of Chabad) said that it will be written in the newspapers. That is just an expression. The actual meaning is that every single Jew will be ready for the coming of Moshiach exactly as if it were written in the newspaper that Moshiach is already on the way! (Torat Sholom of the Rebbe Rashab)(L'CHAIM)
Details of negotiations and phone conversations between 26/11 terrorists at Nariman House in Mumbai and the Israeli Embassy Mumbai: Details of negotiations and phone conversations between 26/11 terrorists at Nariman House in Mumbai and the Israeli Embassy in Washington were revealed at the Mumbai special court on Tuesday.
The court heard a CD of telephone conversations between the terrorists who attacked Mumbai in November 2008 and Israeli officials. So was Israel negotiating or buying time?
The court heard clear evidence that Israeli officials had tried to negotiate for the release of several hostages inside the Jewish Chabad House during the 26/11 attacks.
So almost a year after the November 26, 2008, terrorist attack in Mumbai it was officially established that that the Israeli Embassy officials in Washington DC had initiated negotiations with the terrorists at Nariman House.
In an audio clip of the telephonic conversation played before the special court at the Arthur Road jail in Mumbai, two things were clear. Firstly the Embassy wanted to ensure the safety of captive Jews and secondly the officials were trying to buy time, perhaps to strategise their next move.

Official: Lod and Kfar Chabad Are in the Firing Line The worst fears of the residents of Central Israel appear to have been realized. Until now, talk of the possibility of Hamas missiles landing in the center of the country has only been rumors. However, today these fears became official.
At a government meeting today, Gen. Amos Yadlin, head of Aman (the Israeli intelligence bureau), reported that a new missile fired by Hamas into the sea has a range of 60 km. It was smuggled into the country from Iran through underground tunnels in Sinai.
This means that the new missiles now in the hands of Hamas can reach the suburbs of Tel Aviv and the cities of Beit Shemesh, Rishon Letzion, and even Modi’in. According to the general, Hamas possesses as many missiles as it did prior to Operation Cast Lead, or possibly even more.
In response, MK Michael Ben Ari of the National Union Party remarked that “this is the result of the expulsion from Gush Katif.”

Eichler: Murderers Must Be Kept Out of Israel Arutz-7
(IsraelNN.com) Speaking to Israel National News, Hareidi Religious media personality Yisrael Eichler said that Israel has turned into "a haven for criminals." Eichler was speaking on the arrest of the Dmitri Krilik, who confessed to murdering the six members of the Oshrenko family in Rishon Lezion several weeks ago. Krilik had a record as a violent criminal before he immigrated to Israel.
Eichler said it was difficult to understand how Krilik was able to move about freely in Israel, when he was wanted for crimes in his native Russia. "Russia filed an extradition request, because he was a robbed and murdered. But apparently if an extradition request is filed for someone other than a Jew or a settler, there is no publicity value in it, so the prosecution does not rush to fulfill it," Eichler said. "This should concern us, because there are other murderers in our midst and the country remains open to anyone who wants to immigrate here."
Aaron Rubashkin, Agriprocessors' founder, testifies in son's trial By GRANT SCHULTE
Sioux Falls, S.D. — The man who founded Agriprocessors Inc. testified today that he spent “every penny” he could gather to keep his kosher meat plant afloat after it was raided by immigration agents.
Abraham Aaron Rubashkin, who opened the Postville slaughterhouse in 1987 to process kosher meat, told jurors that he mortgaged his home, two buildings that he owned and his store in Brooklyn, N.Y after the May 2008 raid.
The effort ultimately failed, as the plant run by his two sons slipped into bankruptcy the following November. Rubashkin spoke during his son’s 91-count financial fraud trial in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Sholom Rubashkin, Aaron's son, is charged with mail, wire and bank fraud, money laundering and failing to pay livestock providers on time. Sholom Rubashkin has pleaded not guilty.
Defense lawyers called the elder Rubashkin, who goes by “Aaron,” to contest the charges.
Aaron Rubashkin said he managed to gather between $4 million and $5 million from his personal assets after the raid. “We tried to get all the help we could,” he said.continue...

Construction on Chabad School in Lod Picks Up Pace Three months ago, construction began on the Beis Menachem school in Ganei Aviv, a suburb of Lod. Work has been moving forward, and the second floor is already under construction.
The school, which is known for its high academic standards, will be housed in a 2,000 sq. meter campus, with 18 classrooms, computer and science labs, and conference halls. The complex will house separate schools for boys and girls, providing a welcome change to the caravans that have been home to these institutions for the past 11 years. The building project was launched by Minister Meshulam Nahari during his tenure as deputy minister under the Shas Party.
Slaughterhouse Worker: Manager Was Incompetent SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) ? A former Iowa kosher slaughterhouse manager accused of defrauding a bank was incompetent and in over his head, a plant employee testified Monday.
Chaim Abrahams, a purchasing manager at Agriprocessors Inc., testified for the defense during Sholom Rubashkin's federal fraud trial in U.S. District Court in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Abrahams, who still works at the Postville, Iowa, plant, also testified that understaffing led to sloppiness in the plant's operation.
Rubashkin is charged with 91 counts of financial fraud. His attorneys argue the alleged fraud at the former Agriprocessors Inc. plant was the result of incompetence, not corruption.
The defense began its case after the prosecution rested Monday morning.

Luchins, aide to both former Vice-President Hubert Humphrey and New York Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, is a vociferous presence in political and Jewish spheres. He is a national officer for the Jewish Council of Public Affairs (JCPA) and a national vice-president of the Orthodox Union.
A popular speaker at Jewish functions worldwide, Luchins has been selected to present the keynote address at the banquet concluding the 25th annual International Conference of Shluchim. Lubavitch.com spoke with him this week, to discuss his achievements and his connection with the Previous Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson, and the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
As a former student of yours at Touro’s Lander College for Women, I remember the large photo of the Rebbe prominently displayed in your office. What is your connection with Chabad? My parents were very close with the Previous Rebbe (also called the Frierdiker Rebbe). My father, who was born in America, was a psychologist teaching at a New York school when the Previous Rebbe arrived here.
In many of the 20 books he published, my father cites a “wise friend,” who is the Frierdiker Rebbe, with whom he often consulted about his work.CONTINUE...
Radio Listener Reports Flood at Herzliya Chabad House During a broadcast on the Kol Berama radio station, a listener from Herzliya called in to say that his local Chabad House was flooded during the recent heavy rain in Israel.
“You can’t go daven there without boots,” he said. “Everything is absolutely flooded at the Chabad House’” Presenter Dudi Schwammenfeld showed his considerable knowledge of the subject when he answered, “The shliach in Herzliya, Rabbi Reli Halperin, is a former commando of the General Staff, so everything will be ok.”
The conversation then moved on to the anti-Chabad campaign in Ramat Aviv. At one point, Schwammenfeld remarked, “Chabad gains its victories through love and embracing others. I think that’s the way and that’s the basis. It should be everyone’s approach.” (SOURCE: COL.ORG.IL)
New Classrooms for Migdal Haemek Yeshiva This morning, the students of Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim in Migdal Haemek entered new classrooms in their recently built campus.

“These classrooms signal the completion of the first stage of construction on the new campus. We hope that by the end of the present academic year, this entire project will have concluded,” principal Rabbi Levi Wilmovsky reported.
Rabbi Wilmovsky added that, “This important project came about in the merit of some very generous donors, and especially Victor Pintschuk, with the help of shliach Rabbi Shmuel Kaminetzky.” (SOURCE COL.ORG.IL)

An Alternative Way to Remember Rabin The Eretz Yisrael Movement held an alternative ceremony to remember the memory of murdered Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin – along with 1,000 victims of the Oslo “Peace Process” that he spearheaded during his lifetime.
Emcee Shai Geffen said, “We lit 1,000 candles today in the memory of those who were killed as a result of Oslo, and one candle in the memory of Yitzchak Rabin. We don’t agree to the annual Rabin carnival that takes place every year as a way to incite against the Right.”
Baruch Marzel said, “We don’t think that problems with public issues should be solved with guns, power, and violence, or murder. We don’t kill our political rivals. We need to remember that Rabin did a lot for the State of Israel.”
Rabbi Sholom Dov Wolpo stated, “Rabin’s way was bankrupt. They promised peace and only received blood, fire, and pillars of smoke, and Yizkor in the cemeteries.” (SOURCE: COL.ORG.IL)

Rubashkin to present his side in federal trial By GRANT SCHULTE, gschulte@dmreg.com
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --- Sholom Rubashkin's lawyers will start calling witnesses as early as today to counter allegations that the former Iowa slaughterhouse manager cheated a bank, laundered money and failed to pay livestock providers on time.
The list of possible defense witnesses includes the plant's former bankruptcy trustee, Joe Sarachek; Postville schools guidance counselor Ron Wahl, who worked extensively with the town's immigrant population; and Aaron Rubashkin, the family patriarch who founded Agriprocessors, Inc. to produce kosher meat.
Sholom Rubashkin also will take the stand on his own behalf, defense lawyer Guy Cook said during opening statements. So might his wife, Leah, and at least one of their 10 children.
His brother, Heshy Rubashkin, who helped run the slaughterhouse, is another likely possibility because lawyers have mentioned his name several times in court.
This morning marks week four of Rubashkin's financial fraud trial in Sioux Falls, S.D. Federal prosecutors are expected to conclude their case today after 10 days, 47 witnesses and scores of internal company records.continue...

Leviev's Africa Israel Gains Most in Week on Debt Agreement Nov. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Africa Israel Investments Ltd. increased the most in a week in Tel Aviv trading after the real- estate developer said it reached an agreement with bondholders to restructure 7.5 billion shekels ($2 billion) of debt.
Africa Israel jumped as much as 6.05 shekels, or 12 percent, to 55.55 shekels, the biggest advance since Oct. 25. The shares traded at 51.85 shekels at 1:39 p.m. in Tel Aviv.
The agreement involves Africa Israel exchanging its existing bonds with new notes, stock, or a combination, while owner Lev Leviev also will inject 750 million shekels into the company and cut his stake to 52.8 percent from 75 percent.
“The signed settlement allows Africa to survive,” Yuval Ben Zeev, an analyst at Clal Finance Brokerage Ltd., wrote in an e-mailed report today. “The debt reduction and restructuring will allow the company to focus on its business operation after almost a year of battle to survive.”
Mumbai terror attacks: And then they came for the Jews The Sunday Times

The Rebbe's Advice #256 - GOOD FRIEND I received your letter. Your words are outrageous. I have already told another Chasid that being a Rebbe is an issue of dinei nefoshos, life and death. One must judge oneself many times before undertaking this issue, and even after one does this required introspection, it still does not mean it is for him. Yet, they persist and continue to write letters demanding I take the mantle of leadership of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement. Their intent is good; however; it is not for me.
The argument some put forth, that I agreed to mention certain Chasidims’ names at the gravesite of my holy father-in-law, does not justify their demand. I did this only as a good friend, as a favor. I did what I normally would do during the lifetime of my saintly father-in-law: go into his holy chamber and mention the names of people who needed blessings. Ibid. p. 99

LIVING WITH MOSHIACH #1616 In the days of Moshiach, the body too will change. It will be like the body of Adam before the sin of the Tree of Knowledge, clear of any evil. As the Midrash states, "His heel threw a shadow on the orb of the sun." That is to say, his body was nullified to the Divine Will even more than was the inanimate sun. (Derech Chaim)(L'Chaim)

YisroelPalestinians accuse U.S. of killing peace prospects By Jeffrey Heller
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Pointing an accusing finger at the United States, the Palestinians on Sunday said Washington's backing for Israeli refusal to halt Jewish settlement expansion had killed any hope of reviving peace negotiations soon.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, buoyed by new-found support from the Obama administration, urged the Palestinians to "get a grip" and drop their settlement freeze precondition for restarting talks suspended since December.
On a one-day Middle East visit on Saturday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton endorsed Israel's view that settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank should not be a bar to resuming negotiations -- contradicting the Palestinian position.
Netanyahu has proposed limiting building for now to some 3,000 settler homes already approved by Israel in the West Bank. He does not regard building in occupied East Jerusalem, annexed in defiance of international opposition, as settlement.continue...
