GREECERound Postponed when players threaten strike The strike that Greek players called for this weekend forced the league's organizer, ESAKE to spostpone the round of games scheduled for November 14-15 by one week on Thursday. ESAKE resorted to this solution as the prestige of the basketball league would have taken a severe blow if the games were to start without Greek players. It was also the only way for the clubs to earn some time and for negotiations to start with the union of players (PSAK). In view of this, however, the players issued a new statement on Thursday announcing that unless their demands are met, they will start an open-ended strike from January 1st. At the same time the head of FIBA Europe, Greek Giorgos Vassilakopoulos stated on Thursday that the players' move was "inexplicable" and that at this stage "superficiality and lack of responsibility prevail in Greek basketball."
