Saturday, November 21. 200 block of S. Tonti (between Cleveland and Palmyra). 6PM-9PM. FREE.
As you may have heard, we had a stunning victory yesterday at the State House. The Commission on Streamlining Government which has been tasked by the Governor and Legislature with eliminating wasteful projects and inefficient programs moved to order the first independent evaluation of the proposed LSU/VA medical centers with the alternative plan to gut and rebuild Charity Hospital. This is an giant leap forward for our cause, and would mark the fulfillment of one our key initiatives -- to put our plan and their plan side-by-side and let the facts speak for themselves. We also want to invite you to an important celebration coming up this weekend! As many of you know, Wally Thurman is an incredible Lower Mid-City resident and also a lead plaintiff on the lawsuit against Mayor Nagin for violating the City Charter. Wally was born in the front room of his Lower Mid-City home that has been in his family for generations. Well, Wally's turning 80 year's old and to celebrate his life, and to show our support of Lower Mid-City we are throwing him a birthday party!
