The Law Society of Saskatchewan is committed to providing continuing professional development opportunities to the profession. The CPD Planning Committee will assist the Director of Education in the selection of subject matter and the organization and delivery of continuing professional development programming.
The Law Society is seeking applications for the CPD Planning Committee. Selection for the Committee should be representative of the profession including diversity in practice, geographic location, gender etc. An interest or experience in education would also be an asset.
The deadline for receipt of applications is February 18, 2010. Please submit a letter of interest and resume to the attention of Andrea Johnston, Director of Education, by email to her assistant linda@lawsociety.sk.ca.

The Law Society of Saskatchewan Admissions and Education Committee released a decision in relation to a CPLED Appeal re Daniel DeMaria and Louis Mercier.
The Supreme Court of Canada January 29, 2010 news release included the decision Canada (Prime Minister) v. Khadr, 2010 SCC 3 (Constitutional law Charter of Rights Application Canadian citizen detained by U.S. authorities at Guantanamo Bay)
The Supreme Court of Canada January 28, 2010 news release included:

In response to the demand for more electronic research tools expressed in the Members Survey, the library has negotiated subscriptions to three electronic services from Canada Law Book that are now available to all members: Criminal Spectrum (Classic Edition), Dart: Western Decisions, and OBriens Internet.
Dart: Western Decisions consists of digests of judgments from the Western provinces dating back to 1980 plus a number of subject indices.Criminal Spectrum includes several criminal law textbooks, the Canadian Criminal Cases, a comprehensive collection of full-text unreported decisions, Weekly Criminal Bulletin case summaries, topical indexes, a case citator and search templates.
OBriens Internet is the online version of the popular OBriens Encyclopedia of Forms, a comprehensive source of Canadian legal forms and precedents. It includes thousands of regularly updated legal documents that can be customized to individual needs. Available subject areas include Commercial and General (Div I), Corporations (Div II), Leases (Div IV), Wills and Trusts (Div V), Ontario Family Law (Div VI), Labour Relations and Employment (Div VII), Ontario Court Forms (Div VIII), Municipal Corporations (Div IX), and Computers and Information Technology (Div X).
