  Games-Services, the original company behind the ESWC, filled for bankruptcy several months ago. In the aftermath of this, Stéphane Cosse, the head of DIP Communication and DIP Organisation (An event organiser), has purchased the rights to the ESWC brand, trademark and tournament management system for €50,000 and cyberleagues.fr for €1,500. The ESWC has now unveiled their plans for the summer of 2010 with a new $200,000 dollar e-Sports event taking place in Disneyland Paris from June 30 to July 4, 2010.

  The AGP has begun it's player legislation process. We are starting with the European Duel representation. AGP player representatives will be elected by vote of official AGP members (free members and Pro members) in that region. Each member has volunteered for this position.

  When Dreamhack Winter 2009 is just days away the seeds have finally been made and released for both Quake Live and Quake World. Unfortunately a few players dropped out of the tournament. PURRI and bodzo couldn't make it of various reasons, time and money being the major ones. They were replaced by the players who were next in line: the former Dreamhack Quake admins Dronar and SobriuS. ZeroQl had troubles getting a visa and was replaced by the runner up in the Serbian QL Qualifier: rmd! Åke Vader and lakso couldn't make it to the Quake World tournament either. Åke Vader because of work and lakso because of school. Both of them were replaced by the players next in line: vo1ce and snapcase.

  Association of Gaming Professionals recently held a vote with its Pro Members on whether Dreamhack should be approved or not for AGP Sanctioning. The vote was based on the very late details released of the tournament like prizemoney, if it is to be LAN or server based (Quake Live), and monitors and computers used. All these things are factored into decision making of if a LAN tournament is to be AGP Sanctioned or not because it is not fair to those players traveling to book the travel details for such a tournament early only to find out the prize money is very low or doesn’t exist, instead giving hardware, for an example. Dreamhack has a stellar record of paying prize money on time and holding very well ran tournaments that are consistent, which plays an important role in this vote as well. The vote required a majority vote and was elected to be AGP Sanctioned. The point breakdown is listed below. Usually the penalty in AGP Ranking points for such a late detail release would put this tournament at 500 points for 1st. However, because it is a 32 player, non invite tournament, and that most North American players are attending, it will be treated at 1000. Look for their streaming schedule very soon.

Started a few days ago with a huge Group Stage80 players), the ASUS Autumn 2009 ONLINE will see its first Playoff games starting today around 15:00 GMT. From the group stage, 24 players made it to the 1st playoff brackets. Now 8 experts players will join them in a 32-slots Double Elimination brackets which will be played as best-of-3. Then the best 8 players from this brackets will advance to the 2nd playoff where 8 masters players will join them. Again DE brackets will be used with bo3 matches. The 2nd playoff will start Sunday at 15:00 GMT.

  It's time for the final matchup in the Ownage QuakeWorld duel tournament. After almost 300 matches with 150 players being eliminated, we are now down to the final two. In the Grand Final we will see two time DreamHack Champion LocKtar going up against Avenger, who recently came out of retirement. The two players met just 10 days ago in the 7th round of the Winners Bracket, here LocKtar came out victorious after winning 3-2 in what was a very close match.   I decided to take my dust-collecting demos and make a movie. Good friend and editor Domino made this for me, and I hope you guys are pleased with the results! I'm not the greatest defragger out there, none of these are world records, but I'm pleased with these runs. This month we will be holding our first Capture the Flag 4v4 cup. The tournament will be held on Saturday 21st November and has prizes worth over 600$, kindly provided by Bigfoot Network and SteelSeries.

  Tomorrow night on ESL TV at 17:30 GMT the groups for the Intel Extreme Masters European Championship regular season will be drawn. From four seeding pools the players will be drawn into eight groups of four, from each pool only one player can be in one group. Also players from the same Nation or Clan can't be in one group. The top two of each of those groups will advance to the Intel Extreme Masters European Champion Finals, which will be played offline in LAN. During the show the groups for the Intel Extreme Masters European Championship and American Championship in World of Warcraft will be also drawn.

  This winter's hottest Quake tournaments has now cleared some of the question marks regarding the tournament. The prize distribution has been revealed! The DreamHack crew are currently working around the clock with finalizing the details for this event. The tournament will most likely be played at LAN servers, if no unforeseen technology problems comes up. Expect the seeds for each game to be released this weekend and we can also announce that ALL Quake Matches will be played on Samsung 2233rz 120Hz LCDs.

  Total prize purse: 60 000 SEK (Cash and Products) Cash prizes: 50 000 SEK Cash prize distribution: 25 000 SEK / 15 000 SEK / 10 000 SEK (1st/2nd/3rd) Hardware prizes: 10 000 SEK

The infamous 1997 Red Annihilation tournament: John Carmack, legendary id Software Programmer, gives his 328 GTS Cabriolet to the winner of this tournament. The tournament was held on Mpaths networks with over 2000 participants. The top 16 were flown to Atlanta, Georgia for the final tournament at the World Congress Center during E3 of that year.   Scheduled: 20:15 GMT, 17 November 2009 to 21:45 GMT, 17 November 2009As I'm playing for derailed instead of k1ck in the EMS I am able to bring you guys this great match-up in week 2 of the EMS5 TDM:

  K1ck eSports vs LowLandLions

  The Lineups:

  K1ck eSports: eden, abso, GaRpY, zsx LowLandLions: draven, forever, dem0n, Q50, rax

  • The "nVc is always right" prediction of this game

  This game is going to literally come down to the amount of TDM both teams have played in the last month or so, with both teams being almost as inactive as each other in Team Death Match, I am going to look deeper into the factors that will effect this game’s outcome as best I can.. The most important point to mention is that both teams have strong hit scan aimers. “In order to keep up with these guys (and myself :D), you are going to have to be hitting no less than 40% machine gun (and that's before you actually pick up a weapon, so probably 25% of your time). A tip for you new quake players would be to play a couple of hours FFA a day, just running around with a machine gun to get to this sort of standard! “ In this match-up, I would put money on k1ck just slightly over edging the Lions when it comes to individual death-matching ability. draven and rax would be more than capable to hold their own but I feel that the other 3 Lions will struggle against abso, zsx and eden. Players such as GaRpY from the k1ck side and dem0n from the Lions are putting more hours into quake, especially duel, and they could prove to be strong individuals, but I personally (in no disrespect) do not yet believe they are at the top of their potential games. Thus map aim will be especially important and as such, the Lions are going to have to outsmart them tactically in order to make full use of the easy shots (such as pixel point rails, getting to quad early to hit the first rocket etc to prevent over-cessing and just well, death!) My prediction is that DM6, DM7 & DM14 will be played as both teams have some confident players from a Quake 3 background (at one point or another), and judging by “QL activeness”, new maps to the competitive scene such as DM20 & CA2 will not have at all been considered, or played enough by either side.Final Score: K1ck: 2 – 1 :LLL
