  At this time, French Class 2 and German Class 2 medical certificates cannot be used to validate a UK issued National or JAR pilot's licence and pilots with one of these medical certificates should ensure that they obtain a mutually recognised medical certificate at the time of their next medical examination.    Lithuania Class 1 and 2: Between 6 July 2009 and 16 July 2010

  Volcanic ash disruption to travel; pilots down route whose medical certificates are soon to expire 20 April 2010 We have made provision for pilots who are stuck down route, where there is not a local JAA approved examiner, to be able to extend the validity of their medical certificates by 3 months. To do this they can be examined by a local doctor in accordance with the Exemption to the Air Navigation Order below. In ICAO terms this is described as a deferral of re-examination. The procedure is as follows: The local AME (designated examiner) or, if not available, a local physician should contact the Aeromedical Section of the CAA on +44 (0) 1293 573700 and ask to speak to an Aeromedical Advisor by selecting option 1 and then option 4. We will record the doctor's contact details and review any special circumstances relating to the pilot's medical history that we hold. All being well, we will give permission for the medical examination to be undertaken and we will direct the doctor to our forms, policies and procedures.
