TLC president Eileen O'Neill, who discovered the Gosselins, wouldn't say how long she knew about their separation or whether the kids know about the divorce. But she did say that with their separation, "We anticipate that the focus will remain on the parent-child relationship" and that there won't be any more "dual couch conversations." As for the news of their breakup within the family, O'Neill says: "We did not document family conversations ... As they've said all along, certain matters are private, and we've respected that."

Ed McMahon is dead at 86
Johnny Carson's longtime "Tonight Show" sidekick passed away this morning after suffering a "multitude of health problems the last few months." McMahon reportedly was suffering from bone cancer. His death comes exactly one year after he made the news when his home was in foreclosure. McMahon most recently appeared in a Cash 4 Gold ad during the Super Bowl to raise money to pay off his debts. "If you spend more money than you make, you know what happens," McMahon explained last June to Larry King.
"Jon & Kate" file divorce papers
We now have an idea what'll happen during tonight's special episode. According to People, "documents to initiate a legal split were filed at the Bucks County Courthouse in Doylestown, Penn., Monday afternoon. The news is hardly surprising. As the mag points out, "The duo had long maintained a tense relationship, with Jon recently telling PEOPLE he wanted a less high-profile life, while Kate appeared to remain committed to their TV career." UPDATE: "The show must go on," says Kate. TLC will film Jon and Kate separately after their separation.
