Steve is in good hands and the band plan to recommence their activities when Steve has convalesced. As Steve has completed his work on the new Shy album, the album will be re-commenced and completed; hopefully this year. Steve Harris and Shy hope to perform for their fans again in 2010. Many thanks for the support from all the fans and friends of Steve Harris."AEROSMITH DRUMMER PENS HARD-HITTING BOOK: From Billboard.com: Gary Graff, Detroit / Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer says he wrote his new book, "Hit Hard: A Story of Hitting Rock Bottom at the Top," in order "to be entertaining, but at the same to...help people." Kramer tells Billboard.com that "Hit Hard," which publishes today (June 30), is the result of a four-year process with writers William Patrick and Keith Garde. The book, which includes a foreward by Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx, chronicles the drummer's substance abuse problems, his psychologically scarring relationship with his father and a similarly tumultuous, "co-dependent" battle with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler. Kramer hopes that by sharing his experiences the book will shed some light for those dealing with the same issues in their lives."My desire to help people plays a strong part in my character," Kramer says. "Because I've been allowed to do what I've done via Aerosmith, I'd like to be able to carry it on as I get older, on another level. Whatever that may be is really unbeknownst to me -- maybe some sort of a lecture series or circuit or whatever -- but I know that it will come." Kramer says that Tyler -- whose own autobiography, "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?," has been pushed from an October publication date to the summer of 2010 -- was supportive during his bandmate's book process. "When I was trying to tell him about some of the stuff that was in the book, his comment was...'Hey, man, as long as it's the truth, I don't care,' " Kramer recalls. "And that's pretty much where Steven is at. He's about the truth." Bassist Tom Hamilton, who Kramer portrays in "Hit Hard" as perhaps his closest friend in Aerosmith, calls his rhythm section partner's tome "pretty amazing. It's a really hard hitting book...but there's also a lot of neat references to people that we knew when the band started and things that happen that I forgot about. So it has some real entertainment value, too." Though Aerosmith as a band collaborated with author Stephen Davis on 1997's "Walk This Way: The Autobiography of Aerosmith," Hamilton says he does not anticipate each member of the Boston quintet bringing out his own book in the future."Right now my passion is expressing myself through music," Hamilton says. "I think the thing to do is to be the last one to write a book. That way you can let everybody else put things in their book that are gonna make you mad, and then you can answer back and (have) the last word."Aerosmith is on the road with ZZ Top until mid-September and playing its 1975 album "Toys in the Attic" during the shows. The group plans to return to working on its next album with producer Brendan O'Brien after the tour.JAYHAWKS ANTHOLOGY DUE JULY: The Minneapolis-based Jayhawkswww.myspace.com/thejayhawks) are set to release Music From the North Country: The Jayhawks Anthology, their first ever compilation, on July 7 on American/Legacy Recordings. It's a collection of 20 signature songs and album tracks that span from their 1989 debut, Blue Earth, to 2003's Rainy Day Music. Formed in Minneapolis in 1985 around the songwriting duo of Mark Olson and Gary Louris - along with bassist Marc Perlman - the Jayhawks brought together the best elements of country, folk, and rock. After four studio albums (including Hollywood Town Hall and Tomorrow The Green Grass) and numerous U.S. tours, Olson parted company in 1995, leaving Louris to carry on with a revolving lineup of bandmates, releasing the critically acclaimed albums Sound Of Lies, Smile and Rainy Day Music. Olson and Louris are currently on the road performing both new songs and classic Jayhawks tracks. Dee states, "One thing that I'm really excited about is the musical based on the Christmas album, that thing has taken a life of its own. The musical incorporates most of the Christmas album, select Twisted Sister songs both famous and infamous, but it needs another 8 to 10 new songs to help to tell the story, so we have been writing at the present time. The new material will be for a new record that will be a companion piece to the Christmas record." Tuesday, June 30, 2009DANNY VAUGHN TRAVELLS AN ACOUSTIC ROAD:HardRockHouse is proud to announce the release of The Road Less Travelled, the new live album from Danny Vaughn. Recorded live in Newcastle on December 13, 2008 The Road Less Travelled marks a first for Vaughn, a vocalist recently described by Classic Rock magazine as one of the top voices of the melodic hard rock genre, in that it sees Vaughn & his band performing a full set of unplugged classics. Although no stranger to acoustic shows, most notably touring the UK alongside Journey in support of his Traveller album, the Newcastle show is one of only two that Danny has played acoustically with his full band and, judging from the ecstatic reaction of the crowd on the album, it was something that was long overdue. Mixed by Pete Coleman, the man behind the desk for the Traveller album The Road Less Travelled is the perfect snapshot of what was a perfect gig. From the Tyketto classic Lay Your Body Down to newer numbers Visions & Making Waves, The Road Less Travelled truly evokes the spirit & atmosphere of what was a remarkable live performance & showcases Danny Vaughn at his very best. As Danny says: This album was made by and for my friends the friends that were behind the scenes encouraging me to do it, the friends on the stage that worked so hard to make it happen and the friends in the audience that came to celebrate and have fun along with us. Even if you weren't there, you're a part of it too. Singing is the best way I know to express myself. It s the skill I use for digging deep. Thank you for listening. Thank you for cheering. Thank you for coming along for the ride. The Road Less TravelledTraveller; Making Waves; Soldiers & Sailors On Riverside; Restless Blood; Damn; Jenny Doesn't Live Here Anymore; Visions; Nothing At All; Lifted; A Million Miles Of Road; When You Walk Away and Lay Your Body Down. More info can be found also at: www.jamiemallender.co.ukNEW RELEASE OF HYBRID ICE THIRD CD TITLED "MIND'S EYE" JUNE 2009: Press Release / Hybrid Ice captivated audiences for years with their style and musicianship. And now they are doing it again. The Pennsylvania-based rock group toured endlessly playing cover songs and originals in clubs and concert halls across the Eastern Third of the United States. Their 1982 debut album was heralded as nothing short of 'amazing' and spawned the hit "Magdelene" which garnered them considerable airplay. A follow-up album entitled "No Rules" was released in 1988. Years later, the national recording group 'Boston' re-recorded Magdelene" and released it on their "Walk On" album. In 1998, Hybrid Ice stopped performing as a band. Then in 2000, a British label re-released the 1982 debut album on compact disc. The release and subsequent website fed a hungry fan-base wanting more from the group. In 2002, a Reunion tour was organized with the five original recording members of the band Chris Alburger, Rusty Foulke, Rick Klinger, Robert RichardsonJeff Willoughby and it was a huge success. Today, they are touring in support of their new CD release and looking to expand geographically. On the road again!hybridice.net/page6/page6.htmlMORE SAD NEWS FROM HAIRBALL JOHN: Dear Hairball Nation, It deeply saddens me to announce the passing of The Acid Chimp. He passed quickly in his home of a heart attack at the young age of 37 on June 22nd. Given the birth name of Alan Schafer, he was known by most of his friends as "Big Al", but in the world of music that he loved so much he was adored as "The Acid Chimp". In the coming weeks I will decide about the future of The Hairball John Radio Show but at this time I morn the loss of a very close friend and genuinely good man. Comments and memories are encouraged at: hairballjohn.blogspot.com/ and they will be passed on to family and friends. Please note that the official site of www.hairballjohnradioshowcom is currently NOT functioning and all news will be posted at http://hairballjohn.blogspot.com/ Thank you for your support. Hairball John.JOHN WAITE LIVE IN LA: Story by Gerry Gittelson Photo by Rhonda Woodfine / By Gerry Gittelson Melodicrock.com Los Angeles correspondent. Anaheim, Calif. Last time we checked in with John Waite a couple of months ago, he was fourth-billed on an arena show in Las Vegas headlined by Rick Springfield. This time, the British singer was the main attraction at House of Blues, and Waite came through with an impressive, hard-working 60-minute set that included most of his greatest hits along with a few rare chestnuts. Slickly attired as always in a charcoal sport coat, Waite started off with three of his most well-known selections, Change from his first solo album, Back on my Feet Again from the Babys and When I See You Smile from Bad English. It took a few minutes for Waite to warm his voice he later said he has been battling a cold but once he found his groove the set moved forward in spectacular fashion. There are few men on Earth who can sing as well as John Waite, and he possesses a confident stage presence that is loose and carefree but determined and spirited at the same time. All Along the Watchtower proved an interesting cover, and How Did I Get by Without You was a song Waite rarely performs live, but it went over well. The proceedings gained steam toward the end with Midnight Rendezvous, Missing You, Isn't it TimeHead First. Overall, this was a performance geared toward optimal audience enjoyment, and that's always the way it should be on the classic-rock circuit. Waite and his band recently returned from a short European tour, so perhaps he had a bit more bounce in his step than usual. Bass player Tim Hogan was particularly impressive, but the one complaint about Waite's four-piece backing band is they missed a fair share of backing vocals not sure why. Afterward, Waite was in good spirits. Backstage, he even reacquainted himself with a woman who said Waite had visited her in the hospital 30 years ago back when the Babys were still trying to make a name for themselves. That reunion was a genuine feel-good moment. In related news, I thought I would pass on this cool report of John Waite recently in the UK, which was e-mailed to me by Matthew from Purley, Surrey. Matthew wrote: "Felt I had to send this message as I am sure you will empathise with the situation. Spent last night at The Twist in Colchester, Essex in the company of the awesome John Waite. What was amazing and baffling all at the same time was that the audience consisted of no more than 30 people and this included the support. John's only reference to the size was when he asked us to 'make yourselves at home!' It felt like a private show. Totally, gobsmacking and surreal. John had his full US band and despite their potential disappointment at such a dismal turn out, they gave us lucky few one of the greatest live performances I have personally witnessed for many years. He covered his entire career and ended the evening with a rousing cover of Rock and Roll when he was joined on stage by Loran the lead singer from the support band, Torn Asunder. Brilliant. The hardest part for us was making enough noise to encourage an encore. I was at the Lynyrnd Skynyrd concert in Brixton the night before and as good as that was, I enjoyed John and co even more. What a voice, what a delivery! The other great part about the night was being able to spend so much time with John at the meet and greet after the show. I can't imagine ever again having such a unique opportunity to see an artist of John's standing and brilliance in such an intermit setting. I would just like to thank John and his Band for a great night's entertainment and for not pulling out when it was clearly not going to be a profitable night. Lesser artists would no doubt have done so."SAD CAFE UPDATE: News from Sad Cafe: "The U.S. CD of Sad Café (4th album) came out in April '09, just a few weeks ago. A British label (Edsel) has taken up an option on some Sad Cafe albums and they have put out 2 two CD sets. The first has the UK version of Misplaced Ideals and Fanx Tara. The second has the UK version of Facades and a couple of B-sides on Disc One and Sad Café on the other. The U.S. label (Renaissance) will release Ole in the Summer. I think that this will be around July / August time. Remastered versions of the tracks from that one and also a studio recording of 'Rat Race' added as a bonus track. Sad Café Live will probably follow in the Autumn if sales of 'Ole' go well. After that they may do a compilation of bits 'n' pieces and rare tracks just to round up all the bits that are not yet out on CD..." Want to know why we have a zombieconomy? Because the beancounters killed the incentives to create real value. Let's use MJ's tragic death as a mini case-study. $300 million over, for example, 25 years? That's $12 million a year. I'm deliberately leaving out ads, endorsements, concerts, etc., to focus on the structural problems in one industry: music. If the world's biggest pop star only made $12 million a year from his recordings, why would anyone make serious music? Where did the rest of the money go? Why, straight into record labels' pockets. Did they make better music with it? Nope they made Britney and Lady GaGa. And that's how they killed themselves: by underinvesting in quality, to rake in the take. Wait a second that sounds familiar. You can add back in the endorsements, etc. now they only double the figure: to about $25 million. If the world's biggest pop star only made $25 million a year in total, something's very, very wrong. Where's the rest of the money? Why can't a resource as scarce as the King of Pop capture more value? After all, that's not even mega-rich. The world's top hedge fund "managers" regularly pull in hundreds of millions. That's an order of magnitude difference. No wonder everyone wants to be a banker, investor, or [insert beancounter here]. There's no money left in anything else. That's the big problem behind the zombieconomy. We don't reward people for creating, growing, nurturing, or even remixing assets. We just reward them for allocating the same old assets. That 's not an economy: it's just a game of musical chairs. Hence, no new finance, healthcare, educational, auto, or, yes, music, industry for decades. "...Darkness falls across the land, The midnight hour is close at hand, Creatures crawl in search of blood, To terrorize y'alls neighborhood." Indeed. Everytime you look at today's economic landscape you should see the Thriller video playing in your head. Because what we've built is a zombieconomy, where little net value is created. And MJ's death-by-financial-desperation should be a case study in that zombieconomy if ever there was one. Yes, he spent money on absurdly ludicrous stuff. But if top hedge fund managers can do it why couldn't the world's most famous singer? PS The ultimate irony? I can't even link to the Thriller video. "Heavy Crown" showcases their supreme musicianship and songwriting skills. They also have quite a reputation for putting on stellar live shows. In a nutshell...they really ROCK!BOSTON'S COVER MAN SPEAKS: MySpace profiles can be a lot of fun, but for Tommy DeCarlo, the online social network set him on a path to the job of his dreams singing for Boston, his favorite band. Tommy recently sat down for an interview Matt Becker for Melodic Rock Concerts, and shared some of the remarkable experiences and situations he has encountered since he first stepped on stage singing Smokin' at the Brad Delp tribute concert. He may have been nonchalant about first putting his Boston cover tunes out onto the web, but if he had only known who would go on to hear them. According to DeCarlo, Had I known that I was putting the songs out there for [Boston founder] Tom Scholz to hear, I probably would have been a little skeptical about it, and maybe I would have second guessed it. But never thinking in a million years that his ears would come upon my Boston cover tunes, I really didn't think twice about it. The entire audio conversation with Tommy DeCarlo can be heard at: melodicrockconcerts.com/?p=1053TIGERTAILZ CONFIRMED FOR GLAM FEST 3!:Tigertailz have been confirmed to appear at this years edition of Glam Fest, due to take place at the venue, Estragon in Bologna on Saturday November 7th. This marks the band's third trip to Italy in as many years, following on from their Gods of Metal appearance in 2007, and last year's special guest spot with Whitesnake. This year's Glam Fest looks set to be a thoroughly European affair with Swedish street metal outfit, Hardcore Superstar set to headline the event with Tigertailz filling the main special guest slot. Other acts will be announced shortly.'We're so pleased to announce another stellar date in a country that's really been kind to us in recent years' says Tigertailz guitarist Jay Pepper. 'The Gods of Metal show was immense, and the welcome we received at last years Padova show with Whitesnake was simply jaw dropping. I'm over the moon we'll be playing with Hardcore Superstar again - we both enjoy the heavier side of things, and our London show together earlier this year was a perfectly executed exercise in loud, filthy fun. It's great we get to do it all over again.'

JSS TALKS MJ:Jeff Scott Soto reflects on the death of pop legend Michael Jackson: "Every day the World mourns over the loss of a loved one, a relative, even a pet...but it's not every day the whole World mourns over a single person like they were a loved one or blood relative. Thu, June 25, 2009, WE lost an icon, a legend, a superstar named Michael Jackson. I don't think there is a man, woman or child over 5 years old in the World who doesn't know the name Michael Jackson, THIS in itself is an achievement that is rarely attainable anymore but it shows this man was known for better or worse (in my book, always better, the negative side of his life was always something I always chose to ignore as the MUSIC blanketed this) by EVERY person in the 21st century, and he will be remembered through his music & his legend. Of all my childhood memories, many of them included buying my 1st 45 Single (yes, that would be a small 8" vinyl platter called a 'record'!) of the Jackson 5ive's 'I Want You Back' to standing in front of a mirror at the ripe age of 5 with a spoon in my hand, pretending it was a microphone & singing at the top of my lungs to every word little Mike was belting out. When my brother Joey & I were about 7 & 8, we would draw crowds at the local Boys Club of NY as the song Rockin' Robin would be blast on a record player, Joey would pound on benches/tables as they were percussive instruments while I crooned along to the alto notes of Michael's version. They called us the 'Tweet Tweet Brothers', if you know the song, you'd understand why. Last night, I was witnessing the birth of a new supergroup, an amazing incarnation called Chickenfoot (featuring the eternally youthful Sammy Hagar, the baddest bass pounder Michael Anthony, the untouchable Joe Satriani & the mischievous Chad Smith) performing in London, an energetic & amazing evening only to be flattened by the news of what was happening in Los Angeles simultaneously....a night to remember indeed! Today & forever, I celebrate the music & the influence of Michael Jackson, long live the King Of Pop, long live 1 of my few mentors of the mic, RIP Michael!" - Jeff. And from the archives, some interesting background on Steve Lukather's involvement in the recording of the Thriller LP - www.stevelukather.net/Session.aspx?id=33.SANTANA / JOURNEY FOUNDING MEMBER GREGG ROLIE RELEASES LIMITED EDITION LIVE CD: 6/26/2009 - Houston, TX - Legendary Santana / Journey founding member, and Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Gregg Rolie has released a limited edition CD of his band in concert in 2007. On this 12-track CD, the Gregg Rolie Band whip up a blistering performance featuring all the beloved Santana hits, as well as tracks from his 2001 critically acclaimed solo CD 'Roots' and a few new songs. Songs include "No One To Depend On", "Jingo", "Evil Ways". "Black Magic Woman", "Soul Sacrifice" and others. The final track on the CD, "Bailamos El Son", was taken from Gregg Rolie's performance on the PBS special Trini Lopez Presents The Legends of Latin Music. Filmed at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles last October, the program will be aired in June 2009. Celebrating its 40th Anniversary, this year Warner Home Video's will be releasing a Blu-ray and DVD Ultimate Collector's Edition with high definition picture and sound of 'Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace & Music', which will also feature two hours of bonus material, some of it newly-discovered. Much to the elation of fans worldwide, extra footage of Santana's historic Woodstock performance will be included. Held at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas on March 23rd, along with Santana alumni Michael Shrieve, Gregg resided on20a discussion panel of performers, filmakers and key technicians who helped create the timeless music classic and Oscar winning 'Best Documentary' Woodstock. Also, the Gregg Rolie band recently performed at the Hard Rock Cafe New York for the premier of the new 'Woodstock' DVD / Blue-ray release. Audience members were treated to a guest appearance by drummer Michael Shrieve during the set."The first time I played with Gregg everything just clicked. In a humble way, it was very much like McCartney and Lennon. You know when there's chemistry there. Drummers came and went; congeros came and went, but his feeling and my feeling...sometimes it was hard to tell who was the needle and who was the thread." - Carlos Santana. Gregg Rolie is responsible for co-founding two phenomenally popular, multi-platinum super groups - Santana and Journey. In 1998, the world class keyboardist/vocalist/producer was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame as part of the original Santana band. Formed in San Francisco in 1969, the multi-cultural ensemble produced three groundbreaking hit albums which yielded several FM staples. You've heard Gregg's voice and keyboards on such classic Santana hits as "Black Magic Woman", "Evil Ways", "No One To Depend On", "Everybody's Everything" and "Oye Como Va". "There's one unique ability of the band," Gregg told music critic Ben Fong-Torres, "and that was that it created music that there is no name for... Santana's music is such a jell of different material that there just is no name for it, and there's no one that plays it like Santana does." Departing after the pioneering jazz fusion offering 'Caravansarai' in 1972, both band members Gregg Rolie and Neal Schon went on to form quintessential 1980s hit-makers Journey. After co-writing and producing the band's first 7 albums, along with constant touring, Gregg decided to leave Journey once the hugely successful 1981 live double LP 'Captured' was issued. During the '80s Rolie wrote, produced and played on the Santana albums 'Shango' and 'Freedom', and released his debut, self-titled 1985 solo album and its 1987 follow-up 'Gringo', before co-founding the all-new Journey-esque rock group The Storm at the tail end of the decade. The Storm released two albums: '92's eponymous disc that yielded the #13 Billboard Hot 100 hit "I've Got A Lot To Learn About Love" and '96's 'Eye Of the Storm'. That same year, Rolie, along with five other original Santana members, formed Abraxas Pool, a spirited collaboration that resulted in the 1997 critically acclaimed album of the same name. Thirty-five years after Gregg and Carlos met in San Francisco, 2001 marked the release of Rolie's third solo album 'Roots'. The first-ever release on Bay-Area based Tower Records' new proprietary label 33rd Street, 'Roots' finds Gregg revisiting the incredible brew of sounds he helped conjure up in the late 60's. Rolie calls Roots' twelve original selections "Latin rock plus"; the instrumentation is Latin percussion, with organ, guitar, horns, and lots of great solo work and songwriting", adding that "I really wanted to go all the way back to my Santana roots".The Gregg Rolie Band consists of founding Santana member Michael Carabello on Congas, Adrian Areas (son of original Santana percussionist Jose Chepito Areas) on Timbales, drummer Ron Wikso (who was also in The Storm), Kurt Griffey on guitars, internationally acclaimed bassist, Chapman Stick artist and Santana alumni Alphonso Johnson and former Jean Luc Ponty keyboardist Wally Minko. "If you are having a good time at anything you do, you are going to do a good job at what you do," Gregg recently told music critic Jim Harrington. "That's really where the key to this band is. We really just enjoy each other a tremendous amount and have a lot of fun with this. We will get up to playing about 50 dates a year, and really that's about all I want to do." The Gregg Rolie Band will be performing throughout 2009 with tour dates listed on his official website. On your last couple of releases New Religion and 16.6, you are singing better than ever. Your voice hasn't lost anything over the years. If anything, it has only gotten stronger. What are you doing to keep your voice in such great shape? Ralf Scheepers: Thank You! I ask myself that too. I try to be healthy. I am 44 of years of age now. I need to warm up voice a lot more than I did twenty years ago. It is a pretty tough way we are singing. With the heavy metal singers belting it out every night. They really harm their vocal chords with the stuff they are doing. Everyone mostly sings too loud. That is the same with me. I really scream like hell. Nowadays the technique is really good when recording in the studio. I am really happy that I can record my stuff at home. When I am recording at home, it doesn't mean that I have technical stuff which helps me. I take my time because I am a perfectionist. I don't leave stuff on the hard disc. Maybe five years we would have left it on the hard disc. This way it it sounds better and more and aggressive the way I want it. June 25Fireworks Showcase: June 25
Thursday, June 25, 2009FRONTIERS REVEAL CAIN'S OFFERING:Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of the newest addition to its roster of Artists. Ladies and Gentlemen, from Finland, please welcome Cain's Offering debut album Gather the Faithful to be released on August 28 in Europe and September 11 in the USA. The band is the new artistic creation of Jani Liimatainen, the guitarist/songwriter formerly of Sonata Arctica and Altaria. In 2007 Jani parted ways with Finnish Power Metal act Sonata Arctica, a band he has contributed to found in 1996 and to which he devoted his full time and energy for more than 10 years. Following his departure from one of Finland's biggest music exports in recent years, all eyes were set upon his newest creation: Cain's Offering. After parting ways with Sonata Arctica, I took "a leave of absence" from the metal circles, feeling that I had not much to offer at the time and that I needed a break to charge my batteries states Liimatainen. After a year or so the hunger to play metal returned with a vengeance, and so I decided to put together a new group of my own. I gave a call to a few friends, and voila: Cain's Offering! Cain's Offering is a collaboration of a world-class musicians and one of the best singers in the world of Heavy Metal. All of these guys are handpicked from the very best the Finnish metal scene has to offer and I'm very proud to have them join me in this band. Joining Jani in his quest for world domination - or rapid success, whichever comes first - are vocalist Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius, Kotipelto), keyboardist Mikko Harkin (Solution.45, Mehida, ex-Sonata Arctica, ex-Wingdom, ex-Kenziner), bassist Jukka Koskinen (Norther, Wintersun) and drummer Jani "Hurtsi" Hurula (Paul Di'Anno). Drawing its musical influence from both the classic Hard Rock scene, the fast-paced European Power Metal and a very modern Heavy Metal sound, Cain's Offering is, just as expected, a perfect example of today's living and breathing Finnish music scene. To me Cain's Offering is a perfect combination of the things I value in music: beautiful melodies, emotions, top-notch musicianship and some kick-ass Metal! Basically it represents music as I like to hear it; every element is in its rightful place. I feel that what we came up with has all the traditional values, that so many metal-heads, myself included, hold so dear, but with a fresh new twist to it says Jani. Lyrically the songs deal with very basic, almost primal emotions and subjects most people will be able to relate to and there are absolutely no dragons allowed So, this is a tour-de-force of who's-who in the Finnish heavy metal scene, and yes, this does sound like a wet dream come through for all fans of melodic metal. And guess what - the product exceeds all expectations! With the debut album, "Gather The Faithful", ready for a summer 2009 release, Cain's Offering waste no time, and backed up by such a strong record label as Frontiers Records and their management Intromental, there's no doubt that 2009 will be the year where the Finnish metal scene finds a new hot exponent.Gather The Faithful includes the following songs: My Queen Of Winter; More Than Friends; Oceans Of Regret; Gather The Faithful; Into The Blue; Dawn Of Solace; Thorn In My Side; Morpheus In A Masquerade; Stolen Waters; Elegantly Broken. STAGE DOLLS BACK IN THE STUDIO: Update from the Stage Dolls (www.stagedolls.com): "Hi you all, We're really proud to announce a total renewal of our web-site. Hope you like it :) We're right now busy working in the studio on the next album and it's very promising so far. We've been doing tracks in both Trondheim, New York and San Diego California and Ronny Wikmark the producer has been head on coordinating all this stuff. For you who remembers tracks like 'Still in Love' and 'Love don't bother me' it's probably interesting to know that Darryl Tookes, Vaneese Thomas, Angela Clemmons and Mark Spiro are contributing on this forthcoming album. That's all for now, enjoy the site and we hope to meet you all on tour later this year. Take care, Stage Dolls."STYX MEMBERS ARE DISMAL AT ROCK BAND: Just because Styx now has tracks on Rock Band, that doesn't mean the band members can actually play the game. In an interview with Sterling Whitaker for We Will Rock You, drummer Todd Sucherman and keyboardist/vocalist Lawrence Gowan admitted they are very challenged in that area."I have played it, and I am dismal", Gowan admitted. "I got better after about five or six days of no sleep and just staying on it constantly. I can pretty much get through a couple of Alice In Chains songs now, if I'm doing the bass part.""I know some great drummers that say they can't even do it", Sucherman added. "I play Wii Golf, but I don't consider myself a golfer. I've never been out on the course. The only real golf I play is, I can get the ball under the big chicken or the large windmill. That's about it." Styx recently re-recorded Renegade, Too Much Time On My Hands and Blue Collar Man for Rock Band. The game also features a new track entitled Can't Stop Rockin', which the group recorded with fellow heartland classic rockers REO Speedwagon. The two bands are on tour throughout the summer on a bill that also includes 38 Special. Press Release / "It seems that for a number of years, bands solely from the USA or Britain used to write Rock History but that's history now as Switzerland has started writing their own chapter. This special and incomparable combo is even taking a step further it defines Rock in a new sense! Stronger, heavier and full of deep touching melodies than ever before in that genre. Even well known and successful producers from overseas recognized that auspicious fire of these unique artists burning far away in the Alps and especially one specialist felt infected by Gotthard. We are talking about Canadian producer Rich Chicky (Aerosmith, Rush), who was dying to cooperate with them. Just a few days later he travelled to Tessin to start an intense process of working together with the guys on their new material. One of the unbeatable recipes for success is definitely Gotthard's constant line up: The original cast still exist: Marc Lynn (bass guitar), Hena Habegger (drums), Leo Leoni (guitar) and extra ordinary singer Steve Lee. Some years ago Freddy Scherer came to strengthen the team with a second guitar player and completed the awesome group in a perfect way with his fascinating personality. Gotthard embodies like almost no other band pure delight in playing and work on the other hand very professional and aim-oriented. A quality feature which is also going to be badge with their new record release on September 4th called Need To Believe. In cooperation with the famous producer Rick Chicky (Aerosmith ) does a musical creation arise, which is able to combine emotional Rock songs with haunting mainstream elements in perfect harmony. An album which convinces with rough, dynamic and hasty attitudes but stands also for experience, maturity and composure. Many of the Tracks you will find on Need To Believe proof hard as bone that Gotthard is an amazing Rock band without any compromises. Songs as the diverse and dazzling Shangri La or the rock hymn Need To Believe demonstrate the all-embracing contribution Gotthard make in the scene. And in addition to that they confess their emotional, touching and adorable side once more, which decorate them from the beginning on. To chose the album title Need To Believe was a sophisticated and well-known decision, as mastermind Steve Lee explains: "Especially in hard times like this, coined by many crises and problems, you need to believe in something! Just remember the adage; a will is able to move mountains. If you think positive and won't give up, you will win at the end that is for sure! We have always believed in that credo! To make it short: An album that title reflects the whole content: Gotthard stands for the next Rock generation, who will follow their own way without any influences and trends to enrich and enchant the music world over and over again. But that is not all: In April 2010 Gotthard will celebrate their own first movie soundtrack for Max Schmeling. You cannot deny that's Gotthard! It doesn't matter whether musically or geographically Gotthard is the biggest and mightiest embodiment of Switzerland!!! Don't miss it!"www.gotthard.com EUROPE ANNOUNCE ALBUM PREVIEW VIA NEW EP:Europe, Sweden's biggest selling hard rock band, today announced the 14th September release date for their eighth studio album Last Look At Eden on earMUSIC, the international rock label part of the Edel Group and, distributed by Absolute/Universal. Singer Chris Daughtry, bassist Josh Paul, drummer Joey Barnes, and guitarists Brian Craddock and Josh Steely recorded the album's 12 songs in Los Angeles with returning producer Howard Benson (All-American Rejects, My Chemical Romance)."Many of the songs from Leave This Town", Daughtry says, "reflect how where we've been determines where we're going", including the first single No Surprise, which has been the #1 most added at Hot AC 4 weeks in a row. The No Surprise video was directed by Nathan Cox. In it, the song's theme of love gone wrong is expressed through the character's relationship with the town where he lives. The place you call home can cause heartbreak just like a bad relationship, Chris says. Places change just like people change. Sometimes the best thing you can do is leave. The album's title comes from a line in September, a new song Daughtry wrote with Steely. The bittersweet ballad draws on the singer's experiences growing up with his brother in a tiny North Carolina town. Every time I hear that song it takes me back to my summers in Lasker, he says. I loved growing up there, but I knew I'd have leave to make something of my life. The entire album features inspired performances by the quintet held together by anthemic hooks, impassioned vocals, and lyrics laced with wisdom found through searching horizons and rearviews. The songs shift smoothly from powerful arena-rock (No Surprise, Ghost of Me), to hushed ballads (September) and emotional mid-tempo rockers (Life After You, Learned My Lesson). Leave This Town also includes the country-influenced Tennessee Line, a track Daughtry wrote with Craddock that features vocal harmonies by country-music superstar Vince Gill Track Listings - Standard U.S - CD & Digital:1.
