Beyond Structure - with David Freeman in association with Raindance
Beyond Structure is the most popular screenwriting workshop in Los Angeles, and this is David's only UK appearance this year.
The 200 powerful techniques taught in Beyond Structure will advance the experienced screenwriter, fiction writer, or development exec to the next level and shave years off a beginner's learning curve. The use of film clips, together with hands-on, in-class writing exercises give you practice and confidence in all these new skills. Additionally, each student will receive an extensive,100-page handout pack filled with valuable writing tools.

About the Tutor: Working as a writer and producer, David Freeman has written and developed scripts and other properties which have been bought or optioned by Columbia Pictures, MGM, Paramount, Castle Rock, Buena Vista Television, Atlas Entertainment, Hearst Entertainment, and many other major film and television production companies. He's a long-standing member of the Writers Guild of America.

The programme offers full-time, work-based training for 6 trainees at host companies based at Pinewood and Shepperton Studios. Trainees must be 18 years old or over. Each trainee will specialise in one of the following areas:
Sound Recording Pinewood Sound
Sound Editing Pinewood Sound
Studio Client Liaison The Pinewood Group
Motion Capture Centroid 3D
Special Effects Effects Associates
Camera/Rental co-ordination Film ScapeDuring the year-long programme, each trainee will receive on-the-job training, specialist short course training, shadowing opportunities, e-learning, mentoring, networking and production based training (where appropriate). Through working with 5 host companies at the heart of the British film industry, trainees will be helped to develop up to date skills, contacts and the knowledge of how to pursue a career as a freelancer in their chosen field of work.
The programme also aims to improve the diversity of the UKs workforce in film, and particularly welcomes applications from those with a black, minority or ethnic background, people with a disability and women.

Light House Media Centre to offer exclusive courses in High Definition Production and Post Production techniques for professional filmmakers and broadcast engineers.
Light House Media Centre in Wolverhampton is now offering structured and bespoke continuous professional development in High Definition production and post production techniques, which will enable UK based filmmakers and broadcast engineers to widen their skills base as well as allowing independent production companies to access this knowledge transfer at a competitive rate.
April and May will see courses in Camera and Lighting with High Definition, running Monday 20 & Tuesday 21 April, and Post Production for High Definition on Monday 18 & Tuesday 19 May. The courses cost £105 + VAT each, including lunch in Lock Works cafe bar at the centre. These courses are supported by Skillset as part of A Bigger Future, the skills strategy for the UK film industry and are open to applicants who have some professional experience of working in the film & TV industry.
