NoveList’s Data Division is looking for a Cataloger for juvenile materials. Are you well-versed in children’s and young adult literature? Do you have experience cataloging? This position calls for demonstrated skills in descriptive and subject cataloging, a knowledge of and affinity for children’s and young adult literatures, an understanding of children’s cataloging principles, an aptitude for working with computers, excellent productivity and efficiency in cataloging, a strong customer service orientation, and dedication to producing timely, useful, and accurate data.
Salary is negotiable, based on experience. Qualifications:
- Masters in Library Science or three years professional experience in a library.
- Experience in descriptive and subject cataloging and bibliographic record creation in MARC format.
- Original and copy cataloging experience is necessary.
- Ability to produce a substantial volume of high-quality cataloging records weekly is expected.
- Database and file management skills are required.
- Familiarity with children’s cataloging principles including subject analysis and headings is needed.
- Knowledge of fiction and nonfiction at children’s and young adult reading levels is desired.
- Experience in children’s services or school media center preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently to meet tight production deadlines.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment within a team environment.
- Ability to work at a personal computer on average 7+ hours per day.
- Create and edit a high volume of bibliographic records for NoveList products, primarily at the children’s and young adult reading levels, but with some responsibility for records at the adult reading level.
- Cataloging-on-demand for reading lists, features, and articles, across all NoveList products for teachers, school media coordinators, children’s librarians, parents and young readers.
- Create or edit files and documents needed to support lists and features across all NoveList products.
- Edit and assist in maintaining data streams or databases to support NoveList products for the school market, for children’s services in public libraries, and for young readers in general.
- Assist in data enhancement and quality control of NoveList products.

C.G O’Kelly Library is an academic library at Winston Salem State University. Strong research techniques and skills with print and electronic resources such as JSTOR, SAGE and SciFinder Scholar; this should include the ability to teach others how to use these resources. Knowledge of and the ability to perform collection development and management activities is necessary. Strategies or skills which encourage faculty collaboration, outreach, marketing this also includes library liaison responsibilities are primary for this position. The successful candidate should have the ability to plan, organize and execute programs which should include advanced problem solving skills. Current knowledge and skills in Web 2.0 technologies and instructional technology both hardware and software such as PowerPoint, Excel and Blackboard. General library knowledge should include the Library of Congress Classification System, online library systems, World Cat and interlibrary loan. The successful applicant should have a clear understanding and appreciation for the mission of the academic library.

Work with the O'K Fellows planning team to coordinate, plan and document O'K Fellows' experience and ensure that a quality institute is consistently presented. Utilize extensive marketing efforts to recruit faculty members each semester to participate in the re-training experience. During the institute, assist faculty with re-constructing library assignments including relevant library experiences and consultations. Offer information literacy classes across the curriculum. Work one-on-one with students to complete their prescribed library experiences throughout the academic year. Maintain a quality relationship with faculty participants identifying any challenges with the program and seek ways to improve their experience. Offer assistance at the research assistance desk as scheduled. Serve as a liaison to one of the instructional departments. DUTIES:
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Library seeks an experienced, creative, and collaborative individual for the position of Program Coordinator for the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center. This new position will have responsibility for general management of a center that will provide digitization and hosting services for cultural heritage materials held by libraries, archives, historical societies, and other institutions in the state of North Carolina. Housed in the North Carolina Collection at the University of North Carolina Library, the Center will provide broad and integrated access to digital representatives of these materials to the citizens of the state of North Carolina and to teachers, students, and researchers across the state and beyond.
The Program Coordinator will report to the Curator of the North Carolina Collection and will work closely with the Curator and the Center's Advisory Board in establishing priorities and work flow plans for digitization projects and initiatives. The Program Coordinator will develop collaborative relationships with institutions throughout the state and will facilitate discussions of potential digitization projects and initiatives. The Coordinator will also prepare budgets and monitor expenditures; prepare grants applications and reports; and publicize and promote the plans and accomplishments of the Center. Additionally, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for planning and supervising the work of a Project Management Librarian and, when available, supplementary staff, including student assistants. Travel, including occasional overnight trips will be required.
