NOTE: Louisburg College is accepting applications for the position of Evening Librarian in the Cecil W. Robbins Library, an active, user-centered academic library. The position is a nine-month, part-time (14 - 18 hours per week) position beginning August 2009. The librarian reports to the Library Director.
SALARY:
$15.00 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Master’s degree in Library Science from a regionally accredited institution preferred
- Experience teaching general and specialized bibliographic instruction using techniques for all learning styles
- Excellent computer skills, including the full Microsoft Office Suite
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong commitment to service
- Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a liberal arts college
- Ability to work closely and effectively with students and faculty
- Ability to work collaboratively in a culturally diverse university environment
Preferred:
- Experience in working with large groups of young adults
- Experience in the teaching profession
- Experience in a college library
- Experience in using circulation software
ADA Requirements:
ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information and exercise good judgment; ease of mobility within the library setting ; effective use of all forms of communication; and the ability to perform general office duties.DUTIES:
The essential responsibilities of the Evening Librarian will include serving as Librarian-in-Charge of the Library and student workers during evenings. Providing reference support and instruction to students and faculty, including database searching instruction, and assistance with the use of print materials. Providing coverage in circulation and reserves. Assisting in maintaining and troubleshooting computers and printers. Assisting with other special library projects when assigned. Aiding in the supervision of student workers who report to the Library Student Worker Coordinator. Weekend work may be required.
