Requires a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an academic program accredited by the American Library Association or regionally accredited library school in North Carolina and considerable professional work experience in a public library or equivalent library environment. Three to five years of relevant supervisory and administrative work experience and a comprehensive knowledge of public library practices and procedures, including current technology applications, is desired. Must possess or be eligible for North Carolina Public Librarian Certification prior to appointment.
