Methodist University is situated on six hundred acres near the Carolina Sandhills golfing region, two hours from the coast, and in North Carolina’s fourth largest metropolitan area. The University serves approximately 2,100 students—1,500 in the day program and 600 in MU at Night, the university's evening and weekend program. This is a twelve-month non-tenure track faculty position; salary is negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
MLS from an ALA-accredited program; strong oral and written communication skills; strong computer skills; excellent interpersonal communication and training skills.
Experience in an academic library and instruction. Experience with the Voyager integrated library system.
Revitalize the instruction program by considering alternate methods of delivery, determining appropriate content, and encouraging library use by upper level students. Oversee the freshman library orientation (IDS 110 classes) program: coordinate with office in charge of IDS program, schedule classes, keep class instructors informed of content and policies. Oversee library competency classes: schedule classes, publicize schedule, assess effectiveness of information literacy program, maintain and update tests, coordinate test paperwork with Institutional Research office, analyze data and adjust program accordingly.
As part of the library team: Instruct patrons in the use of electronic and print materials; provide twenty hours of reference service per week including one night per week and occasional weekend hours, participate in professional staff meetings, serve as departmental liaison for designated subjects, maintain current policy and procedure manuals, interpret and apply library policies, serve on campus committees and attend campus events, attend professional meetings and continuing education, perform related duties as assigned, and work on special projects as assigned.

Requires a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an academic program accredited by the American Library Association and considerable professional work experience in a public library or equivalent library environment. Three to five years of relevant supervisory and administrative work experience and a comprehensive knowledge of public library practices and procedures, including current technology applications, is desired. Cabarrus County, a diversified and sustainable community, seeks a Library Director to direct and supervise county library services. Services are provided at the Main Branch in Concord, and branches located in the Town of Harrisburg, City of Kannapolis, and the Town of Mt. Pleasant. The Director manages the Library budget of approximately $2.7 million and staff of 56 employees. Must have a strong commitment to public service.
