Social Care TV

Social Care TV is an online television channel maintained by the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE). It was launched in 2009 with the aim of highlighting the daily lives and work of individuals involved in the social care sector (with the main emphasis on the UK). It comprises short films with associated fact sheets, advice and learning materials suitable for social workers, students, researchers and members of the public. All aspects of social care are covered including: personalisation, dementia and old age; safeguarding children, safeguarding adults, nutrition, children of prisoners and social care for vulnerable groups. Open Images is an open access collection which is being created by the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision and Knowledgeland. It aims to provide free online access to historic audiovisual and film materials from Dutch archives. These include many news reel clips. from the 20th Century onwards. It is possible to search or browse the site. All subject areas are covered with a particular emphasis on the social and political history of the Netherlands. The Public Comment Analysis Toolkit (PCAT) has been created by researchers in the Qualitative Data Analysis Program (QDAP) at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and the University of Pittsburgh. It is a free software designed to allow government departments to create websites where citizens can engage and communicate with officials. It therefore aims to increase political openness and, accountability and transparency. The website provides information about the software and its possible uses and a registration form. The Council of Food Policy Advisers was established in 2008 to advise the government on a wide range of food policy and production issues in the UK. In its first report, the council outlines areas for priority action : further promotion of the 5-a-day message for fruit and vegetables to increase healty eating; encouraging increased local fruit and vegetable production and consumption through a UK fruit and vegetable strategy.
