3:46 AM CST Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday, February 08, 2012. A strong ridge of high pressure will dig southward across the Central U.S. Wednesday, while both coasts will be battling with low pressure systems. Out West, the low pressure system that brought wet and cool weather to California Tuesday will continue to move south into the Baja California region Wednesday morning. As a result, expect showers mainly in the early morning hours across the Southern California. Skies should start to clear by midmorning. In contrast, another Pacific storm will be approaching the Pacific Northwest, bringing another round of rain and mountain snow. Moving to the East, a low pressure system over the Tennessee Valley with its cold front through the Deep South will continue to move east and out to the sea by Wednesday night, producing snow and rain showers from the Ohio and Tennessee valleys to the Mid-Atlantic and southern New England. Cooler weather is also expected across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Elsewhere, scattered snow showers are expected over parts of the Rockies. Moreover, showers and thunderstorms will persist over southern Texas and southern Florida.Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday, February 08, 2012. 6:16 PM CST Weather Underground midday recap for Tuesday, February 07, 2012. Tuesday's weather pattern featured a frontal system from northern New England to the Southern Plains and a strong ridge of high pressure nosed southward across much of the Intermountain West and Central U.S. In addition, a Pacific storm system brought wet and cool weather to the West Coast. The front extended from New England southwestward through the Ohio and Mississippi valleys and Southern Plains produced snow and rain along its path Tuesday. Widespread snow showers fell mostly north of the front, while rain and isolated thunderstorms developed south of the front. Parts of Kansas, Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle saw snowfall accumulations 2 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts. Out West, a strong Pacific storm system approaches the coast Monday night and Tuesday, which brought widespread rain showers and mountain snow across the West Coast. Apart from the precipitation, this system produced strong winds 25 to 45 mph with gusts to 70 mph over the coastal regions Monday night and Tuesday morning. Farther inland, scattered snow showers fell over parts of the Rockies. Elsewhere, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms continued over the Florida Peninsula Tuesday. This was due to a broad area of low pressure from western Cuba northward into the Florida Straits.Weather Underground midday recap for Tuesday, February 07, 2012. 2:16 AM CST Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday, February 07, 2012. A Pacific storm will slam into the West Coast Tuesday, bringing much-needed rain and some high elevation snow to California. It has been a very dry Winter for many areas of the countries, particularly in California where most areas are far below their normal precipitation levels. While this new storm will not be a very wet system, it will bring precipitation to many areas of the state from Eureka through San Diego. Rain will turn to snow in the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevadas, an area also in need of Winter precipitation. Meanwhile, leftover showers and thunderstorms will diminish in south Florida as a rare February tropical disturbance continues to move out into the Atlantic Ocean. A cold storm will progress through the Plains, but it will lack significant moisture that would make it a major storm. Instead, it will act to cool afternoon temperatures from the Dakotas to Oklahoma. A few snow showers are possible in the Central Plains to Illinois. The Northeast will be cool but dry, as has been the case for much of the Winter. The Northeast will rise into the 20s, 30s, and some 40s, while the Southeast will see temperature sin the 60s, 70s, and some 80s. The Northern Plains will rise into the 10s, 20s, and 30s, while the Northwest will see temperatures in the 40s and 50s in the lower elevations.Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday, February 07, 2012. 9:41 PM CST Weather Underground midday recap for Monday, February 06, 2012. A rare February tropical disturbance continued to bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to south Florida to the tone of several inches. Even if the disturbance does not develop further, widespread rain and thunderstorms will continue through the rest of the day. This precipitation represented the only significant precipitation in the country, further prolonging the relatively dry and mild Winter the country has experienced. The only other light precipitation was high elevation snow that fell in the Colorado Rockies. Generally mild temperatures continued for much of the country, as been a staple for nearly the entire Winter. The coldest areas were noted in the Northern Rockies and Intermountain West where afternoon temperatures were still in the 20s and 30s for most areas. The Northeast rose into the 40s, while the Southeast saw temperatures in the 60s, 70s, and some 80s in Florida. The Northwest rose into the 40s and 50s, while the Southwest saw temperatures in the 40s, 50s, and 60s.Weather Underground midday recap for Monday, February 06, 2012.
