Includes free admission for a self-guided tour of Unity Temple.A design competition and holiday celebration, Edible Edifice will benefit the restoration of Wright's modern masterpiece, Unity Temple. Winners can earn up to $600 in gift certificates and prizes, including a $250 gift certificate from Room & Board. The new confectionary creations will be on display, with hot cider, holiday treats from Bleeding Heart Bakery, and live music, and will be reviewed by a jury of Chicago's finest in the fields of architecture, culinary arts, and design. The works will then be auctioned off to the highest bidders with proceeds benefiting that other convention-defying edifice, Unity Temple.
Lee Bey, WBEZ architecture blogger, Executive Director of Chicago Central Area Committee, and past architecture critic for the Sun Times; Michelle and Vinny Garcia, owners of Bleeding Heart LLC (local sustainable punk rock pastry) and participants in seven Food Network cake challenges; and Jeff Stafford and Michelle Dumont of Adrian Smith+Gordon Gill Architecture will serve as judges.Information: on-line.

Brother Caswell continues his discussion by revealing the challenges faced in rejuvenating this edifice and its impact on the vibrant community surrounding this Chicago landmark.
Founded in 1893, to serve the Polish immigrant community, St. John Cantius Church is one of the most recognized architectural landmarks in Chicago. Since the late 1980s, the church has undergone extensive interior and architectural restoration.Information: on-line.
