PUFC: 43,067 including 2,600 visiting fans. Before kickoff, a presentation was made on the pitch to Magpies physio Derek Wright, marking 25 years of service to the club. After the game Chris Hughton commented:"We have got a totally focused group of players who, from minute one, saw an opportunity for us to stay on top of the division, and very much took that opportunity. "We have got used to getting on with the job. There are things we can't affect, but I am very lucky that I have got a group of players who are focused on one thing, and that's on staying where we are at the right end of the table with the ultimate aim of getting promotion.
"We are focused enough and it certainly hasn't taken anything away from the victory."
"It was just what we wanted. We could have made it a little bit more comfortable, but I don't think you can complain too much about a 3-1 victory at home."
"He was certainly delighted with that. We were expecting the mask to come out, but he has probably put it away somewhere."
Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson said:You have seen the team that will win the league. The manner of losing the first two goals was awful. We left ourselves a mountain to climb. They are on a roll at the moment.
"Chris has done a good job and stabilised the whole club, so it was always going to be difficult for us."

1946 Roger Jones born, Upton, Hampshire. (1976-77)
1979 Aaron Hughes born, Magherafelt, Northern Ireland. (1997-2005)
Popular defender who came through the junior and reserve ranks at SJP to make a senior team debut away to Barcelona in the Champions League back in 1997. Full international honours first came his way in March 1998 and October 2009 saw him collect his 70th senior Northern Ireland cap. Looking set to become another of United's long serving Northern Irishmen - Iam McFaul, Alf McMichael and David Craig - Hughes was allowed to leave SJP by manager Graeme Souness at the end of the 2004/05 season. Signing for Aston Villa, he later moved on to Fulham in 2007 and remains a competent, consistent Premier League performer. We on the other hand have continued to spend large sums of defenders of varying talent and attitude (notably Boumsong and Moore) - without noticeable improvement.

A brave Barnes equaliser looked to have been in vain when Dublin scored again, but with time running out Robert Lee picked the ball up in midfield and sent a 35 yard shot zooming into the goal to save a point.

It ended up being little more than a stretching of the legs for the Reserves. More newsworthy was the sending home of messrs Bellamy, Cort, Dyer and Griffin from the team base in La Manga for missing a meal in honour of Sir John Hall. Once more the club and its PR department did its very best to shoot itself firmly in the foot with their subsequent stonewalling.
