Newcastle U18s 2 Sheff Wed U18s 1
After a fixture-free weekend, Newcastle's U18s returned to league action today as they extended their unbeaten run to six games.
Wednesday took the lead in the 28th minute when a free-kick from the left was
swung across the box by Cottingham and it went straight in at the far post.United replied five minutes later when Sam Adjei was fouled and Michael McCrudden's
free-kick was flicked into the far corner by Stephen Folan
Four minutes before the break Brad Inman played in McCrudden and his
fantastic 25-yard shot flew past the keeper to give Newcastle the lead at the
break.
Our lads continued to dominate after the break, although Phil Airey was lucky
only to be booked for a high two-footed challenge.
Both sides had late chances to score but Jak Alnwick saved well and Airey only
just failed to connect at the other end.Team: Alnwick, Nzuzi (Leadbitter 73), Ferguson, Inman, Henderson, Folan, Newton,

0-2 at home to Rushden & Diamonds with both goals coming near the end.
