Update:
Mag is a BluebirdChampionship side Cardiff City have confirmed the loan signing of Newcastle's Haris Vuckic for an initial month. The 19 year-old Slovenian international forward is under contract until 2016 and despite sustaining a finger injury has appeared in four Premier League games this season. His Championship experience amounts to a pair of outings for Newcastle in 2009/10 - another season in which he was sidelined for a significant period due to injury. Haris is poised to make his Bluebirds debut at Leicester on Saturday. However, he isn't eligible for Cardiff's Carling Cup Final against Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday week, having played for Newcastle against Scunthorpe United in an earlier round. Leicester meanwhile are reported to have offered trials to a pair of Magpies reserves who will be out of contract at the end of this season. Goalkeeper Ole Soderberg and defender Patrick Nzuzi have been given the opportunity by ex-Newcastle coach Nigel Pearson, now in charge at the Foxes. The Chronicle also suggest that striker Dan Taylor is attracting the attention of Preston North End, while fellow discard Joan Edmundsson has now turned up in Norway. The 20 year-old Faroe Islands international midfielder (pictured below) is currently training with Viking Stavanger ahead of the start of their Eliteserien campaign in March.

Update: Pardew on England
Latest comments from the Newcastle boss, Thursday:
"Firstly as an Englishman, I am proud to be in that sort of frame, but it's not for me and I will make that quite clear."I am not even in the running as far as I am concerned. I am very happy here at Newcastle. It's a little project here that's going really well and I want to see it through.
"The passion and everything about this place is why I want to stay here.
"I do hope it goes to an Englishman, just on a personal level. I think that's important this time. I really hope Harry and Spurs and everybody sorts themselves out and can do it in a manner that it works for everybody."
Youth Cup tonight
This evening sees United's U18 side look to take advantage of a third successive home draw in the FA Youth Cup this season, when Kick-off is at 7pm and the tie will be settled on the night via 30 minutes of extra time and/or penalties if required.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp walked free from Southwark Magistrates on Wednesday morning, after "not guilty" verdicts were delivered by the jury on both charges of cheating the public revenue, and was immediately installed as favourite to be next England manager.More power to him for that. More power to him for believing, and for allowing Newcastle’s fans to dream. What has he to lose? If he falls short, well nobody expected Newcastle to be much more than lower mid-table this season, at best. And if he makes it? That would be the greatest achievement in English football since David Moyes took Everton to fourth place in 2005; arguably greater.

Cheick in for silverware
Manchester United v Charlton / Spurs Manchester City / Fulham v BurnleyA 1-0 win over Mali in Libreville on Wednesday was enough to put Ivory Coast into the final of the African Nations Cup - and present Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote with the chance of a winner's medal in the tournament. Tiote was recalled to the Elephants lineup after missing their last two games and helped his side maintain their 100% record that's seen them keep four clean sheets. Their opponents in Sunday's final will be Zambia, who beat Ghana by a single goal in Bata. Cheick should be available for our home game against Wolves on February 25th.

Press"Keep the faith"Having pilloried them in the past, it's only fair that we highlight a positive piece published in the Mail newspaper and penned by their Chief sports hack Martin Samuel:
Alan Pardew, the Newcastle manager, is now talking of chasing down Chelsea. Don’t you love that? Isn’t it grand there is a manager with real ambition outside the elite in the Premier League? Quite possibly, Pardew fails. His team is a point behind Chelsea in fourth place, but Arsenal are in that mix and Liverpool, too. It is likely Newcastle will be squeezed out by one of the traditional Champions League contenders.
We have been waiting for Newcastle’s implosion all season and, if it comes, in a matter of weeks Pardew’s team could slip to seventh. Even so — marvellous, isn’t it? Marvellous that Pardew does not talk of setting mediocre mid-table targets.
Another good night for Fraser on Wednesday as Celtic extended their lead at the top of the SPL thanks to a 4-0 victory against Hearts at Tynecastle. Bury (h), League One, Saturday. (Deportivo la Coruna): Guess what? he's knackered again and out for the next 2-3 weeks with muscle knack. What a guy.
It would be easy to work the system; to constantly reinforce what an outstanding job he has done by lowering expectations. There are some managers who, with Newcastle’s total of 42 points, would still be publicly celebrating staying up.
This would be said as a joke, of course, but the inference would be clear: look at the job I have done with these clowns, they would be halfway to the Championship if it wasn’t for me.
Downbeat utterances serve as an insurance policy, too, preparing fans for the fall. This is better than anyone could have expected, the manager makes plain, so don’t blame me for the inevitable collapse. Pardew prefers to look upwards. He puts pressure on himself and his players by talking as if Chelsea, and Champions League football, are realistic targets.
More power to him for that.
So keep the faith. You never know what might happen. And that, alone, makes a change.

Friendly'Head prevail in the shedWednesday saw Newcastle reserves play what was quite literally a behind closed doors friendly, as they faced Gateshead on the indoor pitch at Darsley Park. The Tynesiders prevailed 3-2 in the 70 minute workout, United's goals coming from Phil Airey and Ryan McGorrigan - the former now back at the Magpies after his loan spell with Gateshead was cancelled.
Transferred to SJP in November 1929 at a cost of £2,500, Weaver enjoyed a scoring debut for the Magpies, netting the only the goal of a win against Arsenal at Highbury. Winning three England caps while at United, the highpoint of Sam's time in a black and white shirt was the 1932 FA Cup Final success at Wembley against the Gunners. Finishing top scorer with 14 league goals in 1933/34, Weaver remained at Gallowgate following the club's demotion to Division Two, but after two unsuccessful promotion efforts he was sold to Chelsea for £4,166. Guesting in wartime for Southampton, Fulham, Notts County, Derby County, West Ham, Mansfield Town, Wrexham and Leeds United, Sammy signed for Stockport County in December 1945. Following his playing retirement in 1947, Weaver returned to Leeds as assistant trainer, later moving on to Millwall. Joining Mansfield Town in 1955, a quarter of a century of serving The Stags followed in managerial, coaching and scouting roles.

1911 James Robert Richardson
Signed from Blyth Spartans for £200 in April 1928, inside-right Jimmy made a goalscoring debut for United in a 5-1 home win over Blackburn Rovers in September 1929. Richardson wasn't to become a regular starter until the 1931/32 season, when he was ever-present in our FA Cup campaign, netting a hat trick against Southport. And that culminated with his appearing at Wembley against Arsenal and crossing for Jack Allen to score the winner in a 2-1 victory - the infamous "over the line" goal. Capped twice by England while a Magpie, Huddersfield Town paid £4,000 for him in October 1934 following United's relegation. He returned from the Terriers to SJP three years later and scored four times in 14 games before departing once more, this time signing for Millwall in March 1938. War time football found Jimmy appearing in the colours of Fulham, Aldershot, Charlton and Leyton Orient and remained at the O's as player/trainer post-war. Serving as Orient trainer from 1951 to 1955, Richardson then returned to Millwall in a similar role before ill-health forced him to leave in 1957. Living in Bexley, he died in August 1964.
1919 David Stewart HamiltonOutside right signed from Scottish junior side Shawfield in May 1939 and played in two matches of the abortive 1939/40 season, scoring in our 8-1 home defeat of Swansea Town in September 1939. Appearing for United in the early weeks of wartime football leagues, Dave served with the Black Watch and was among thousands of troops rescued from Dunkirk in 1940. Recovering from a broken leg sustained during a match, Hamilton made occasional appearances for United and also guested for Southampton, Fulham and QPR. Scoring on his final outing for the Magpies - 1 1-3 Football League North loss at Preston in March 1946, Dave joined Southend United two months later in a £100 transfer. After just four matches in Division Three South though, Hamilton was released by the Shrimpers in the summer of 1947.
