November 2. And one more post: How To Drop Out has spent all day on the front page of Hacker News, and here's the comment thread. I've recently thought that if I could go back and reframe the whole issue, I might describe it as shifting out of the money economy: we don't care whether we're participating in society, or enjoying its benefits -- we're just trying to accept and offer help with a minimum of money changing hands. What we especially avoid is passing money up the pyramid, as in the case of rent and interest, and being dependent in the sense that someone can control us by threatening to withhold benefits.
