October 21. There's an herbicide called Clopyralid that kills non-grasses, so it's being sprayed on grass and grain crops, and then persisting in grass and straw turned into compost, and killing garden vegetables. This has the potential to destroy the compost industry and starve backyard gardeners who rely on outside compost.
Of course, you could always survive by hunting small game, right? Not in parts of Austria, where a hailstorm killed 90% of game animals, plus a lot of crops. More data is needed, but it's possible that climate change will increase the severity of hailstorms. (Link via Cryptogon)
