Tobias Delius, who has never before visited new orleans, plays tenor sax and clarinet, has been in Han Benninks ICP orchestra out of Amsterdam for 20 years, is a regular collaborator with such figures as Hamid Drake, Frank Gratkowski et al, and is one of the most old-soul and intensely-modern saxophonists in the world. Georg Graewe is a pianist based in Germany, a major figure in north Europe since the mid-70s, and cites Cream, Fats Domino, Arnold Schoenberg and legendary South African drummer Louis Moholo among his greatest influences for his creative music. James Singleton and Johnny Vidacovich are perhaps the finest rhythm section this side of the Mississippi, and are surely well-known to readers of this list.
