BASIC AUDITIONING SKILLS AND SET ETIQUETTE FOR TV AND FILM 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. Acting and auditioning for TV and films is a world unto itself. There are very specific things one must do when auditioning for TV and film that most new actors have no clue about. (This includes commercials and industrial films). This class will teach the things each actor needs to know in order to give him or herself the best chance of landing the gig. We will also talk about what to do once you get the job (what to bring to the set as well as what NOT to bring, how to follow up, and even how to act on the set). This is the perfect class for the actor with aspirations to do commercial work, TV or film in a small town or a big city. BASIC AUDITIONING SKILLS AND ETIQUETTE FOR THEATER 10:15 to 11:45 noon The theatre world is very competitive but the prepared and trained actor stands a good chance of successfully navigating this world and making oneʼs way successfully to the boards. This class is an overview of the world of theatre including preparing monologues and songs for the theatre audition, auditioning and call backs. We will also discuss cold readings, making bold choices and what to wear. The student will learn character types (ingenue, lead and character), audition etiquette, backstage etiquette and how to prepare for the gig once you have booked it. This is a great class whether you have your sights set on Broadway, church or local and community theatre. LUNCH 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Brown bag it and use this hour to network with other actors or pick the instructorsʼ brains about this exciting and challenging business. AUDITION WORKSHOP 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. Knowing how to audition is the first step toward booking the gig. In this workshop, participants may bring in a piece they are working on or, if they do not have a piece, we will provide them with a cold reading piece. Each participant gets to take what he or she learned in the morning classes and actually do an audition. We will work with each student individually in a master class setting to help bring the best out in each audition piece. Each student may choose whether to do a film/TV, commercial or theatre audition. Each audition is videotaped and the videotape may be used if the student would like representation. MAKING A CAREER IN ACTING (LA, New York, Chicago, Small Market) 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Youʼve mastered the audition skills, youʼve actually done an audition (that will be taped and used as a sample of your work for future submissions), and youʼre thinking of making the jump to an acting city. We conclude this amazing day of classes with Making a Career in Acting. In this fast-moving final 90 minutes each student will get great information on making the move to a larger market with an eye toward making acting a career. Each student will learn how to have a life in an acting city, how to make contacts with the appropriate people, agencies, casting directors and acting companies. This session ends with a Q&A. The information in this class will be recorded and transcribed and each student will get a typewritten copy of this information two weeks following the conclusion of the class. DVDs of the studentʼs auditions will be available to any student who would like one. There is a nominal additional fee of $40 for this added bonus.

Still casting for one male actor! CAP Dinner Theater production of "Weekend Comedy" is immediately looking for a young male actor. TONY - 20's to 30's Jill and Tony are a young couple who in "Weekend Comedy" have rented a cabin in the Catskill Mountains for the weekend. Due to a booking mistake, the cabin is also rented by an older, more mature couple. It's late, no one wants to leave, and they end up sharing the cabin - Jill and Tony take the bedroom and the older couple sleep on the sofa pull-out bed. Jill and Tony are not married. They are free wheeling and young. Tony comes from a wealthy family and so he and Jill enjoy life's finer things. Jill's cooking expertise is in frozen dinners. They listen to rock music and talk about their travels to Europe a lot. Tony and the older man in the cabin spar verbally back and forth about life and work and relationships. Tony always seems to pick on the older gentleman by constantly referring to him being of a very much older age, but eventually is challenged by the senior to a hundred-yard dash outside in the woods. Will Jill and Tony teach their older cabin compatriots to loosen up? A comedic clash of generations.... Rehearsals will be three times a week, beginning January 17th, at the Woodlands Room of the Chelsea Community Hospital. Performances will be FRIDAY, MARCH 2nd, SATURDAY, MARCH 3rd, and SUNDAY, MARCH 4th at the Chelsea Community Hospital Dining Room. Please reply to this email immediately, or forward to anyone you may know who would be interested. -- Chelsea Area Players P.O. Looking for Five women, and Six men to play the roles in this delightful comedy of errors written by Mary Chase. Elwood P. Dowd claims to have an unseen (and presumably imaginary) friend named Harvey whom he introduces to everyone he meets, and describes Harvey as a six-foot tall pooka resembling a rabbit. His social-climbing sister, Veta, and her daughter Mrytle Mae, find his behavior extremely embarrassing, so they decide to have him committed to a sanitarium. Many hilarious mishaps occur, as the audience is left to wonder, is Harvey really real? The Starlight Theater is located at 7370 Highland Rd., Waterford, Michigan. The celebrated co authors of such classics as Norman, Is That You?, Murder at the Howard Johnsons and Wally's Cafe have created another surefire winner in which two couples rent the same Catskills cabin for the same weekend by mistake. Frank and Peggy have rented the Catskills cabin for a weekend. They have been married for many years and are very set in their ways. Frank is reluctant to leave home and worries about everything, especially his job in office supplies. Peggy is hoping the weekend getaway will inject some romance back into their marriage. Into the cabin walk Jill and Tony, a younger couple who have also rented the same cabin for the weekend, due to a booking mistake. It's late, no one wants to leave, and they end up sharing the cabin, with Jill and Tony taking the bedroom and Frank and Peggy sleeping on the sofa pull-out bed. Romance seems to go by the wayside as the two couples get to know each other and the two men in particular spar verbally back and forth about life and work and relationships. Talk about a generation gap! ROLES: 1 male 20s-30s 1 male 40s-60s 1 female 20s-30s 1 female 40s-60s Rehearsals begin January 17th, three times per week at Chelsea Community Hospital

What was the biggest entertainment blockbuster of the '70s - Star Wars? Jaws? The Godfather? No! It was Gilbert and Sullivan's HMS Pinafore, the original theatrical smash hit that debuted in 1878 and put the 'Gilbert & Sullivan' in Gilbert and Sullivan. Great, iconic leading roles available for SATB, plus a rollicking chorus of sailors and a boisterous bevy of sisters, cousins and aunts - a boatload of fun that has never been topped. What, never? Well, hardly ever! Presented by the University of Michigan Gilbert and Sullivan Society, the oldest student-run G&S company in the country, but no affiliation with UM or knowledge of nautical propriety is necessary to audition - just a little bit of talent, a little bit of ambition, and perhaps the tiniest bit of jaunty flair.
