Nov. 10, 2009 1837 More than 150 Kichai Indians and 18 Texas Rangers clash in the Battle of Stone Houses, so named for three stone mounds that resembled houses to the Indians. Eight rangers survived the battle in which the Kichais used prairie fires to smoke them out from protective cover. -
